Konami Denies Demanding Removal of Yamaoka Interview

Konami has denied rumors that surfaced after a new interview with Akira Yamaoka disappeared from the web. Fans believed that the publisher forced the removal of the material due to the composer's mention of a new project related to the Silent Hill series.

Last week, composer Akira Yamaoka hinted that his new project would please Silent Hill fans. However, the interview during which these words were spoken disappeared from the web, supposedly due to a "request" sent to the Ai HUB channel. Konami also addressed the matter. In a statement for Video Games Chronicle, a Konami representative dismissed rumors that the publisher forced the removal of the material.

Unsurprisingly, players' suspicions immediately turned to Konami. Yamaoka is by no means an employee of the company and we could hear his work in many games from other publishers (including The Medium). Nevertheless, his greatest fame came with his memorable work on the Silent Hill series. So, if Yamaoka mentioned about something that fans of the series would want to hear, it's no wonder that players immediately recognized it as the announcement of the franchise's return. Meanwhile, Konami has continually denied that it is working on a game from the franchise, despite rumors and insider information circulating around the web. So it was easy to believe that Yamaoka's statement was inconvenient for the publisher, and the company had the problematic interview removed.

Fans are "politely" demanding the return of the Silent Hill series.

Konami's statement seems to cut off speculation on the subject. It's highly doubtful, however, that it will stop gamers from forming more or less plausible conspiracy theories. It's not just Silent Hill fans who tend to be desperate in their search for possible teasers and leaks.
