Assassins Creed Shadows: How to get through the tea ceremony?

The Tea Ceremony is one of the early missions in the main story of AC Shadows. During it, you will have to participate in an official tea brewing ceremony, during which you will gather information about your enemies. On this page, you will learn how to properly perform all traditional activities and which choices to make.

Which gift to choose for Sokyu?

Before embarking on the tea ceremony, you will have to prepare for it. After acquiring the appropriate outfit, you will learn tea etiquette under the watchful eye of Sen No Rikyu as part of The Perfect Gift mission. Soon after, you will have to choose one of the three gifts for the host. These will be:

1. Decorated teapot;
2. Tea jar;
3. Bamboo ladle.

The choice has no impact on the plot. Host Imai Sokyu will be pleased with any gift. If you play in canon mode, Naoe will automatically choose a bamboo ladle.

How to bow and how to turn the vessel?

When The Tea Ceremony task begins, first watch the cut-scene. Then head out to meet the rest of the guests. Talk to three women. Try to use the same name under which you introduced yourself earlier to Imai Sokyu.

When you have to bow, perform a half bow (middle option).

When it is time to drink tea, turn the vessel twice to the right (middle option).

Whether you correctly perform all the actions and rituals does not have too much impact on the plot. However, if you want to avoid scornful glances from NPCs, it's worth maintaining proper etiquette.

Which woman to accuse of being the Golden Teppo?

After the ceremony, you have to decide which of the participants to accuse of being the murderer of Naoe's father. The correct choice is Wakasa, the woman dressed in a dark robe. However, if you want to know what the consequences of each choice are, check out the Otama or Wakasa? page.
