Capcom has not been idle in recent years when it comes to developing the Resident Evil series. Nevertheless, the company focused mainly on creating full remakes of the second and third installment and it worked out really well. However, before we see further overhauls, the Japanese developers will prepare for us the eighth installment, which will continue the convention chosen by the prequel, i.e. first-person survival horror. Phew, we got quite a lot of these numbers flying, but we can finally get to the point.
Resident Evil Village, as this is the full title of Capcom's upcoming game, promises to be as scary as its predecessor. Once again, we will play as Ethan Winters, who will try to regain his balance after the tragic events of Biohazard by settling in the middle of wilderness. The false idyll will be disturbed by no one else but Chris Redfield, the legendary antagonist of the series, well known to all its fans.
The devs swear that they want to create a world as terribly tangible as possible. All this thanks to the developed version of RE Engine and the focus on a smooth, engaging, high-risk exploration. A big refreshment will also be a change in the game's setting - a ton of ancient castles, occult huts and groves, all covered in snow and enriched with the presence of bloodthirsty beasts like... werewolves. We expect a rough ride - I wonder if it will be optimized for VR goggles this time too.
