The sixth official expansion to the popular MMORPG developed by Turbine Entertainment. After the studio responsible for developing the base game had been shut down, the developers joined the Standing Stone Games – the studio responsible for creating this expansion. This add-on introduces the titular land of Mordor, currently ruled by Sauron – the dark lord. The players are given a number of new locations known from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, including Cirith Gorgor, the Valley of Udun, Barad-Dur, and the Black Gate. Additionally, one can visit Erebor – the city under the mountain known from The Hobbit and its cinematographic adaptation. The Lord of The Rings Online: Mordor introduces over three hundred new quests, raises the level cap up to 115, and delivers new items and artifacts. To top it all, when creating a character, the players can now play as High Elves. Mordor features a new barter system allowing the players to acquire unique upgrades for their equipment. Another novelty is the allegiance system allowing one to join any faction in order to retake Mordor territories for additional bonuses and unique pieces of gear.

Bomber Crew is a hybrid of a strategy game and a simulator, with some additional RPG elements. Developed by Runner Duck, the game allows the player to assume the role of a WWII pilot commanding a bomber crew. During the game, one has to complete numerous missions, which involve eliminating strategically important military targets and providing reconnaissance behind enemy lines. The gameplay is divided into two parts – the preparation stage involves selecting recruits, as a bomber crew has to comprise a pilot, a mechanic, gunners, a radio operator, a navigator, and an ammo supply crewman. The player should pay close attention to the recruits they select, as their death on the battlefield is permanent. When airborne, one has to monitor the condition of both their crew and their plane, as consecutive subsystems might break down – a spot-on shot on the plane’s tail might result in losing maneuverability, similarly to a burning engine. Thus, during each mission, the player has to repair the plane. After completing a mission (when over a target, the player gets to operate the on-board systems in order to photograph the target or bomb it), one has to return home safely – provided he has enough fuel. Bomber Crew is bound to attract players’ attention with its colorful visuals and dynamic vessel damage system.

A rare example of an MMORTS game set in a retro-futuristic universe. Developed by a French independent studio – Insane Unity – Win That War! combines the gameplay mechanics typical of real-time strategy games with online interactions. The game allows the players to choose a side in a war between three megacorporations, which fight against each other for control over newly discovered planets full of precious minerals. In the game, one assumes the role of a general of an army comprised of futuristic tanks and airplanes. Combat teams can be dispatched to different locations on the surface of a beleaguered planet, where one can either leave them on their own and allow the AI to lead the defense of a planetary sector, or lead the army in person to battle hostile players. Battles are typical for the RTS genre: a player has to acquire resources, build factories, recruit new units and dispatch them to fight the enemy. In return for victorious battles, players are rewarded with currency, which they can spend on drafting new armies and improving existing ones. The technology research trees allow the players to unlock new structures and combat vehicles. Apart from the main MMO mode, the game offers a chance to play non-committal multiplayer battles and skirmishes against the AI.

A dynamic and demanding platform game in a retro setting. Developed by Gamera Interactive, Unit 4 focuses on the adventures of four alien special agents trying to save their star system from inevitable doom. An army of evil aliens has invaded the protagonists’ home planet and stolen a sacred artifact. Since similar robberies have occurred on other planets, the entire system is slowly falling into its demise, as it cannot function without the aforementioned artifacts. Traveling aboard their spaceship, the main protagonists visit numerous planets and fight the alien minions of evil in search for a way to defeat the enemy and retrieve the life-giving artifacts. To travel to a planet, one has to open the galactic map and freely control the spaceship represented on it. When on a planet’s surface, the main protagonists can move in two dimensions - jump on moving platforms, glide, hang from walls and ceilings, as well as fight the enemy forces. Each character features a unique skill set, such as Double Jump or Deadly Dash. Since the players can freely switch between controlled characters, one can quickly combine their special moves into stunning combos. Alternatively, one can join their friends in a local cooperative mode, and play Unit 4 together, with each character assigned to one player.

Simulation, Experimental/artistic, Indie Games, Sandbox, Singleplayer.

Developed by an indie developer David O’Reilly, Everything generates worlds, which you can watch from any perspective you like. Each universe can be observed in both micro and macro scale. You start playing in a particular place of a procedurally generated world, but the rest is completely up to you – you are free to take control of a single atom, animal, or object, and focus on its immediate whereabouts, or control an entire planet, star or even galaxy. The gameplay has no specific goal – what you do and why you do it is your choice. As you jump between different elements of the universe you create its encyclopedia – objects that you discover are catalogued, after which you can view them in a special menu. All that is complemented by decent graphics and atmospheric soundtrack as well as lectures of the philosopher Alan Watts. Interestingly, Everything is the first video game in history nominated for Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film thanks to its several-minute trailer – that film had also won jury’s award at Vienna Shorts Festival.

A standalone expansion to a well-received online FPS developed by BlackMill Games. Like in the base game, the action of Tannenberg takes the players to the World War I. However, this time around one gets to travel to the less known eastern front of the Great War and participate in the historical battles between the Russian Empire and the forces of Germany and Austria-Hungary. Apart from introducing a new faction, the biggest asset of this expansion in the entirely new theater of operations, which differs significantly from the battles that took place in the region surrounding Verdun that one might remember from the base game. Instead of trench warfare, the player gets thrown into more dynamic battles, taking place in large, open areas - in the woods and snow-capped plains - which significantly alters the nature of the gameplay. Other aspects of gameplay remain unchanged, so the level of realism and brutality, the character development mechanic, and the system of acquiring new pieces of gear remain the same. The game delivers a new mode, in which up to 64 players divided into two teams can fight each other on one map.

An action RPG with roguelike traits, developed by independent studio One Bit Beyond. The game tells the story of brave characters trying to defeat the evil Mormo. Because the enemy has an army of beasts under his command, many heroes will fall before someone achieves the goal. The action in The Swords of Ditto is presented from an isometric perspective and the gameplay focuses on exploration and combat with encountered enemies. Although the gameplay is action-based, the combat system mostly rewards having proper equipment – in additional to traditional weapons, during the game the player can use more extraordinary items like a magic golf club. The combat potential of the character can be also increased with stickers that provide additional bonuses. It is worth mentioning that dying in the game is permanent and the legacy left by fallen heroes, like their equipment, can make the next attempt a bit easier. The game can be played alone or with another player in a local cooperation mode.

The second entry in the popular series of puzzle games developed by an independent studio ustwo. The title features a completely new plot, in which the player learns about the fate of a mother who travels with her child through a fantasy world. The gameplay mechanics are based on the ones employed in the first entry in the series – the player is tasked with guiding both characters from one place to another, frequently by manipulating the environment, playing with perspective or by creating optical illusions. It is worth mentioning that the presence of two characters makes solving riddles in Monument Valley 2 slightly different than previously. Despite that, the users that played the previous game should feel familiar in the new entry. The title features high-quality graphics inspired by the works of M.C. Escher.

The third installment in a series of paintball games developed by XField Paintball SAS and advertised as the official video game devoted to that popular activity. The game was created in cooperation with professional paintballers and video-gamers themselves. XField Paintball 3 gives us an opportunity to take part in multiplayer competitions based on the official rules of paintball. The game is played from the first-person view and the experience combines elements of tactical shooters and sports games together. Two teams of up to 5 players each participate in a match; the goal is to take control of the entire territory with minimal losses. Developing an adequate strategy and coordinating the team's efforts constitute the key to success here, and the latter of these lies in the captain's hands. The remaining players take the roles of the so-called Rushers, Shooters or Tacticians. XField Paintball 3 comes with relatively average-looking visuals, rather poor in detail.

The Ghost team is dispatched to the war zone, however, their chopper is shot down and they have to crash-land in the middle of a jungle filled with enemies. Like the base game, the Fallen Ghosts expansion builds on the cooperative gameplay mechanics and comes with a completely new and complex story campaign offering 15 missions at players’ disposal. Throughout these missions, the players have to eliminate four crime lords and face new types of adversaries. All of that comes with previously inaccessible weapons and new skills available for the Ghost operatives.

Lethis: Daring Discoverers is a steampunk adventure game developed by Triskell Interactive and serves as a sequel to Lethis: Path of Progress. The game is set in the same world as Lethis: Path of Progress, but its action takes place in a later historical period - in a fantasy version of Victorian times. Technology in this world is so advanced that it is now possible to construct gigantic cannons that can launch manned capsules to other planets. We play as one of the adventurers who take part in such an expedition. In terms of gameplay mechanics, Lethis: Daring Discoverers is an adventure game where we explore alien planets. At the beginning, we choose one of the five available characters (each of them has their own biography, character, skills, and equipment). As we play, we will explore those worlds, make difficult decisions, contact alien races, fight with enemies, and solve logic riddles. We will also have to make journals of our discoveries and search for artifacts that grant us access to special powers and new technologies.
