Sequel to the racing game that was released in 1995 by Electronic Arts and that changed the racing genre. Need for Speed II let's you control eight completely new licensed vehicles. Among them are: McLaren F1, Ferrari F50, Ford GT90, Jaguar XJ220, Lotus GT1, Lotus Esprit V8, Italdesign Cala and Isdera Commendatore 112i. The races take place on six distinctive tracks located in various areas of the world. In comparison to the original game, which was released two years earlier, there are many new features and improvements in Need for Speed II. Among them there is the possibility to change such parameters of the cars like gearbox position, brakes sensitivity etc. The game features improved, fully three-dimensional graphics engine that has better physics and is able to generate more details. The game also allows us to play with other people through the network.

Dead Space 2

The sequel of the 2008’s Dead Space, a survival horror game. It was developed by Visceral Games (formerly EA Redwood Shores) and published by Electronic Arts. The plot of Dead Space 2 continues the storyline of fighting the parasitic race of necromorphs. The action takes place three years after the events of the original Dead Space. Isaac Clark arrives at a mining town of Sprawl which is located on one of Saturn’s moons. The protagonist has to face the alien life form that starts to spread there. In the sequel, the developers decided to put greater emphasis on dynamic action and expand the bestiary. The game also features a multiplayer mode that allows us to assume the role of both humans and necromorphs.

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening

An official expansion for the bestselling RPG game Dragon Age: Origins created by BioWare. The story of the expansion starts a few months after the events that occurred in the basic game. The protagonist is tasked with rebuilding the order of Grey Wardens which was decimated during the great Battle of Ostagar. What makes the quest harder is the fact that, despite the defeat of the powerful archdemon, the dark forces did not return underground and remain a threat for the whole Ferelden. In Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening the player can visit a previously unavailable realm called Amaranthine, encounter never before seen beasts and obtain new specializations, talents, skills and spells. Five new characters and the dwarf Oghren known from the basic game can join the player’s party. One can play the expansion by importing his character from the basic game or by creating a completely new one which will automatically gain the required experience level.

The first installment in one of the most popular series of first-person shooters, created by Infinity Ward. The game takes the player to several different front lines of the Second World War. Throughout 24 missions divided into four single player campaigns, the player assumes the roles of several allied soldiers. The list includes an American paratrooper, a British commando and a Soviet infantryman. The missions bring great amounts of action and diversity as well. The player participates in the biggest battles of World War II, including mainly the Normandy landings, Battles of Stalingrad and Berlin, as well as tactical operations involving sabotage. Apart from that, the game offers several multiplayer modes. Call of Duty faithfully recreates the historical background - the player can find a set of authentic weapons and vehicles represented in the game. The places and major events were recreated in accordance with actual history as well. Call of Duty utilizes a modified version of the id Tech 3 graphical engine, used previously in Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

The developers have also decided to implement the symphonic soundtrack to accompany the player’s efforts. Similarly to its original release, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition allows the players to lead one of over a dozen nations through the centuries of development. During the game, the player has to acquire resources, erect new structures, and invent new technologies. Apart from the economic aspect, combat is an important element of the game. In order to succeed, the player has to create a large and highly diversified army – including infantry, cavalry, and numerous war engines – and come up with effective strategies. Apart from the single player campaigns and skirmishes, the game offers an elaborate multiplayer experience.

A humorous cooking simulator developed by a Polish studio called Wastelands Interactive. In Cooking Simulator, a player assumes the role of a chef working at a restaurant, who has to carry out all the duties resulting from his job. Their responsibilities include preparation of various meals - one can stick to the recipes or experiment a bit. The latter option involves combining ingredients as one sees fit, choosing from vegetables, meat, and fish. The players are given numerous kitchen appliances such as cutlery, special knives, bowls, pots, frying pans, ovens, blenders, gas stoves, and many other thing. Cooking Simulator is based on an advanced graphics engine, allowing the player to slice the vegetables and blend them; however, one can also vent all his frustration and demolish the kitchen. The game delivers a career mode, in which the player systematically acquires new customers and gets access to more advanced recipes. The culmination of all the effort is the Michelin Star - one of the most prestigious honors a restaurant can receive.

Gameplay is based on exploration, questing, and environment shaping. In this voxel-based world you can erect and destroy buildings as well as craft useful items. An expansion for the second installment of the action RPG series by Reality Pump, a Polish development studio. Two Worlds II: Pirates of The Flying Fortress offers a new campaign that takes place in a previously uncharted area. The plot of the add-on is focused on a pirate captain and his crew who are confined on a cursed archipelago. The player helps the corsair save his beloved, find the legendary treasure, and suppress a mutiny on his ship. Of course, the story is non-linear, concluding with one of three endings. Gameplay-wise, the expansion introduces changes in the alchemy system, enables the player to steer a boat, adds new kinds of weapons and enemies, including powerful bosses, such as a Basilisk or a Stone Golem, who require the player to conduct a research on their weaknesses in order to defeat them. Apart from the single player campaign, Pirates of the Flying Fortress offers four new multiplayer maps for the Adventure mode. Moreover, the add-on slightly improves the graphics and introduces new, dynamic weather effects.

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box

A complete edition of the racing game released in 2008 by Criterion Games. The title was a great success and received many DLC expansions during the months following its debut. The game takes place in the titular Paradise City which has open structure and across which the player can freely move while accepting various racing challenges. The title slightly refreshes the formula of the series but without resigning from its characteristic traits, such as the arcade driving model and spectacular traffic crashes. The mechanics of Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box are same as in its predecessor that was released one year earlier. However, the game contains all DLC expansions that were previously available only through the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. These DLC expansions introduce, among other things, motorcycles and night races to the game. The Ultimate Box is the first installment of this popular console series that was released on PC.

The result of the independent Polish studio Pixel Crow's cooperation with 11 bit studios, the creators of This War of Mine. Beat cop is a point-and-click time management game. You play as Jack Kelly, a former NYC detective who was framed for murder and demoted. Hated by everyone around, Jack is trying to reconcile his duties with conducting a private investigation in order to discover who framed him. The plot of Beat Cop is non-linear and its many endings depend on your decisions. Interestingly, the game was inspired by American crime TV shows from the 70s and 80s, which is reflected in its atmosphere and humor. The time-management element of the production is most visible when you're patrolling the streets of Brooklyn, while during the investigation segments it becomes a detective/adventure game. Beat Cop has a distinct retro feel thanks to its pixel-art graphics and oldschool soundtrack.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is the first expansion pack for the best-selling action RPG game, Diablo III. The add-on created by the Blizzard Entertainment’s development team has added a fifth act to the main campaign, in which Malthael, the Angel of Death, is determined to put an end to the war between celestial beings and demons; the Black Stone binding Diablo’s soul is supposed to help him achieve this goal. The expansion also introduces a new playable character – Crusader – and raises the limit of character’s experience level to 70. In addition, the creators decided to modify the loot system; now we find it less often, but it is more valuable and better suited to a particular hero. Some changes have also been introduced to the visuals, making them much darker than in the original version of the game.

The ninth major installment in one of the most popular car racing video game series continually developed for over two decades by the Electronic Arts company. This one was created by recurring Ghost Games Studio (former EA Gotheburg) mostly consisting of ex-Criterion employees. The game's development process was also assisted by members of the Speedhunters community, including photographers, journalists, and drivers focused around broadly understood car culture. Marking the 20 year milestone of the series’ existence on the market the creators decided for a restart, naming the new game simply Need for Speed. To meet the players’ expectations the product draws from the two most popular reincarnations of the series: Need for Speed: Underground and Underground 2, featuring all the elements fans loved the franchise for – extensive car customization, authentic fell of the car culture, and a compelling story set in an open world bustling with nightlife.

A stand-alone expansion to the fourth installment of the series of crazy action games, Saints Row, developed since 2006 by Volition studio. The protagonist of the expansion is Johnny Gat, a character well known by the fans of the series. Together with hacker Kinzie Kensington he literally goes to hell and back. The pair of characters is tasked with saving the leader of the Saints gang who was chosen by the lord of hell as fiancé for his daughter. The title remains an action sandbox game filled with absurd humor. This time the virtual streets of Steelport were replaced with hellish areas of the city of New Hades. The title features much heavier, metal music. The progress in the game is achieved by completing missions which increase the level of Satan’s anger. New crazy weapons were added to the inventory (including a chair with miniguns) and there are new enemies to defeat. In fighting them the protagonist can use new superpowers – including the very useful angel wings.

The Pillars of the Earth

An adventure game from Daedalic Entertainment, based on a popular history novel written by Ken Follet, entitled The Pillars of the Earth. The game of the same title is set in the 12th-century, in the tumultuous period known as the Anarchy. After the sudden death of king Henry I and the only heir to the throne having been killed in the crash of the White Ship, England gets consumed in a violent war of succession. With the war in the background and the tensions between the nobles, clergy and the common people constantly growing, the game tells a story about an attempt to raise a monumental cathedral in a fictional city of Kingsbridge in the south of the country. As for the game’s mechanics, The Pillars of the Earth is no different from a typical adventure game with gameplay based on exploration of different locations, conducting conversations, and solving various logic puzzles.

Criterion Games, a team popular mainly for the Burnout console series, was entrusted with the task of creating this installment. The title of the game refers to the two earlier installments that featured police pursuits, released in 1998 and 2002 respectively. In the game, the player can pick their side and play either as a cop or a racer. A set of gadgets was introduced into the gameplay, emphasizing the arcade nature of the series. Cops can deploy spike strips and set up road blocks, while the racers can use things like radar jammers. As usual, the game features dozens of licensed cars and a soundtrack including numerous popular songs. The Autolog system is a completely new feature, the role of which is to organize a network of players allowing them to compete against each other.

Black Mesa

A fan modification of the classic first-person shooter Half-Life from 1998; the mod's development took roughly 8 years to complete. In terms of plot, the production is a faithful recreation of the original game and tells the story of Gordon Freeman, a physicist, and his struggle for survival in the titular Black Mesa Research Facility invaded by mysterious beings from another dimension. The implemented changes relate primarily to the audio-visual aspects, which were developed entirely from scratch, using the original locations, 3D models, and sound effects as a model. The game is powered by the popular Source engine, which created for the cult Half-Life 2, enabling it – in comparison with the original GoldSrc engine – to fully employ the capabilities of modern graphics cards and multi-core processors. This allows us to enjoy high-quality visuals, improved physics and character animations, and a host of advanced visual effects. An entirely new soundtrack, composed by Joel Nielsen, was also made for the game.

A virtual prison manager has to face such issues as violent behavior among inmates, gang activities, smuggling and contraband, or even mutiny. In contrast to the previous installment, the game was developed by EA Black Box - an internal studio of the American company. The story is centered around the eponymous coast-to-coast race across the United States. Winning this huge event is the only way for the protagonist to obtain money required to pay his debt to a dangerous criminal organization. In the game, the player has to complete different racing challenges, and the story campaign features quick-time events for the first time in the entire series. The relatively short story campaign is complemented by a set of separate challenges. These require the player mostly to drive on twisted mountain roads, sometimes buried under avalanches. Impressive visuals have their source in the Frostbite 2 engine, popular mainly for being used in the Battlefield series.
