A city builder strategy game created by Mindillusion. The player is placed in charge of an early-medieval settlement. One's prime goal here is to maintain an appropriate balance between expanding the village and being able to survive in a hostile environment. Thus, apart from utilizing more and more space, constructing new buildings and upgrading the existing ones, the player has to give proper winter clothing to their subordinates and deliver them with balanced meals. The last can be achieved through growing different kinds of plants, breeding animals and storing food; making light of these aspects can result in dangerous epidemics. Apart from that, the player's village can fall victim to attacks of predators and various natural disasters, such as tornadoes or storms, which can cause a fire. All such events affect the spirit of the villagers, which is reflected by a special meter - unhappy workers become less productive. Life is Feudal: Forest Village offers a three-dimensional environment. Interestingly, the player can switch between an isometric view and first-person perspectives (as one of his subjects).

A survival-themed action-adventure game developed by the British studio Mojo Bones. Impact Winter is set in 2018, when the Earth's atmosphere got polluted with a dense layer of dust, due to the planet's collision with a huge asteroid. Sunlight is now almost completely absent, and the player assumes the role of Jacob Solomon, who along with four other survivors has to sustain his existence under extreme conditions for 30 days - it is the amount of time the rescue team needs to reach the place. Mechanics-wise, Impact Winter is an action-adventure game that focuses on survival-related elements. The player sets out for on escapades, scavenging after the food and supplies they need. In order to stay alive, the protagonist has to survive in low temperatures, as well as to deal with the risks of dying of hunger, thirst, frostbite or injury; also, aggressive animals pose a large threat to Jacob's life. Thus making use of the available skills in order to craft the items we need is the key to success in this game.

From among other titles in the genre, Hurtworld is distinguished by a protection system that evens out the chances of beginners and seasoned players. Another noteworthy feature is the punishment system — should a character who has killed many rivals die, he loses more valuable equipment than the others.

The game was created as a result of cooperation between the independent studio, Unicube, and Team 17, the company famous for the Worms series. The player becomes a leader of a group of survivors hiding in a gloomy underground shelter after a nuclear catastrophe. The game begins when the first bombs are about to fall. We have a limited amount of time to gather supplies for the first weeks of living underground. Later in the game, the player is forced to leave the shelter looking for food, water, medicines, and other supplies. The player often has to fight hungry mutants and other survivors, as well as face other problems, for example those related to the maintenance of the shelter. The player also has to deal with various diseases and the mental condition of the survivors. The game features retro pixel-art graphics, accompanied by a soundtrack that resembles B-Class movie stylistics.

H1Z1 takes place in an alternate world, 15 years after the discovery of the titular virus that caused a world-wide zombie epidemic. The few survivors fight for their lives, struggling against zombies, wild animals, and other surviving factions. During the game, players get the chance to build a shelter or even entire cities somewhere in the United States. An extensive crafting system also makes it possible to craft useful items from procured raw materials. On the technical side, H1Z1 uses a modernized version of the Forgelight engine which was previously used in Planetside 2 and EverQuest Next among others. The game uses the free-to-play model with micropayments for some additional features.

Unlike the previous two add-ons, this one was developed not by the original creators, but by Capybara Games - the team known for such games as Below or Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery. Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked focuses solely on single player content, drawing inspiration from the cult adventure novels, such as Robinson Crusoe. However, these were enriched with fantasy elements and a unique sense of humor. The expansion introduces new locations, characters, enemies, and weather effects. Additionally, the game lets you use a boat and sail around the sea dotted by numerous islands. In terms of audiovisuals, the add-on is on par with the base game. Although it includes a big chunk of new graphic elements, they match the original style.

The other one involves exploration and fighting. Once in a while, you will stop at different places to thoroughly search them. Outside the train you can come across a variety of useful objects, or meet other survivors, but you will also stumble upon bloodthirsty creatures, which will need an immediate introduction to your broad arsenal of weapons.

Prey for the Gods takes place on a large island covered with ice. During the game the player assumes the role of a female hero who discovers the secret for the endless winter that rules over the land - turns out that some powerful gods are responsible for it. In order to restore the old order, she must face them. Similarly as in Shadow of the Colossus, the essence of the game consists of duels with giant enemies. In combat the player must be creative and observant – they must find weak points of the colossuses. The game also allows the player to climb on the giant bodies of the enemies. The title features many modern solutions, such as survival elements and a crafting system that allows for crafting of various weapons that are useful in combat.

During one of such travels, his ship malfunctions and crashes on a dangerous alien world. Our job is to survive and find a way to contact the base. Fortunately, ION is supported by the ship AI, as well as ANI, an encountered female repair unit. In Phoning Home, the action is seen from a third person perspective, while the world has an open structure – during our journeys, we traverse forests, canyons, and deserts, or even visit the bottom of the ocean. The planet is full of various dangers – even if ION is resistant to attacks, ANI is much more vulnerable. If we want to defend her, we are often forced to stave off enemies, lay various traps, or sneak outside of their range. The game contains an extensive crafting module, allowing the player to create new items and various upgrades.

During the journey the astronaut is forced to land on an unknown planet inhabited by various predatory beasts which evolve during the night, becoming even stronger and more dangerous. The player starts the game with small supplies, so in order to survive, he must gather resources and use them to build structures and construct useful items. The gameplay concentrates on exploration and combat, using various weapons, vehicles, planes and robots. In contrast to other games of the genre, the survival aspects are only an addition. on which the player doesn’t need to focus too much.

The action of Shattered Skies takes place on Earth, devastated by a space cataclysm — the Moon was smashed to pieces by a comet, while our planet was infested with an alien life form that degraded the environment and turned people into monsters. The players assume the role of one of the few survivors, whose only choice is to fight for their lives. The threats include not only the monsters but also other participants. On the other hand, the interactions between players do not boil down to competition — we might as well cooperate or trade items. In Shattered Skies, it is essential to traverse open locations in search of food, water, and anything useful. While resting, it is best to head to a survivors’ camp or, if that’s impossible, barricade ourselves in some building, barring the windows and setting up traps.

The game has been developed by a small team called RocketWerkz, comprising sixteen people led by Dean Hall - the creator of the original DayZ. In the game, the player assumes the role of a space station manager tasked with constructing and attaching new modules to the station, as well as overseeing the life support systems (e.g. food production and producing a breathable atmosphere). In Stationeers, one can play alone, but the game truly gains momentum in the cooperative and multiplayer modes, in which the players can share the responsibilities of running the space station. The game features colorful and original visuals resembling the style of another popular game - Minecraft.
