A hybrid of a platform and a survival game. The title was developed by two people – Joar Lisberg Jakobsson was the lead programmer and the author of the idea of the game while the music was composed by James Primate. The game takes place in a hostile post-industrial realm filled with complicated machinery. The environment is constantly plagued by downpours and the animals that live in it are forced to hide from the rain in a hibernated state. The main protagonist is Slugcat – a creature that is similar to a cat. It is tasked with gathering enough food to survive the forced resting time. What’s interesting, the ecosystem is filled both with creatures smaller than Slugcat and ones that are much larger. This makes the protagonist the hunter and the prey at the same time. The gameplay concentrates on visiting atmospheric locations, avoiding confrontation with larger predators and avoiding traps and other dangers. Luckily, the unusual protagonist isn’t completely defenseless – he can use a spear that allows him to kill or stun other creatures. Rain World can be played alone or in cooperation mode. Low-key colors and simple graphics fit the grim atmosphere of the game.

This is the debut production from Axolot Games. The game itself is a multiplayer-focused sandbox mechanic simulator featuring elements of survival. The player takes control of a mechanic sent to a fully automatized agricultural planet to fix and maintain the machines working there. As it soon turns out, the robots inhabiting the planet went insane and the protagonist's task is to make a good use of his knowledge of machines in order to survive the attacks of mechanical enemies. Scrap Mechanic offers two completely different game modes: survival and creative mode. The latter offers pure entertainment and allows us to build machines without having to bother ourselves with threats. The survival mode resembles games such as Rust or Hurtworld, focusing on exploration, resources gathering, building different machines for various purposes, fighting, and cooperating with other players.

The in-game character gets hungry, cold, tired, and in need of shelter, and the primary goal is to provide for his basic needs, which boils down to collecting items and employing the game's advanced crafting system. Depending on your preferences, you can either play alone, focusing on survival aspect, or in multiplayer, where you get to cooperate and compete with other players, motivated by their own goals and needs.

A post-apocalyptic survival strategy game with RPG elements, created by Polish developer Robot Gentleman Studios. You play as the head of a typical American family, who has to provide for his loved ones in the face of an incoming nuclear war. The game starts 60 seconds before the first explosion, giving you one minute to get to a shelter while grabbing the most essential provisions on the way. In the next phase you have to survive for as long as you can using only the resources you've managed to gather, which often force you to make very tough decisions. Sometimes, you have to decide whose daily rations should be reduced, sometimes how to deal with problems at hand, such as a cockroach infestation. Despite its seemingly grim theme, the game features a rather light-hearted atmosphere, evident e.g. in its comic-like graphics.

The game’s protagonist is a woman named Scout, who, together with her dog, follows a long river in search of a rescue awaiting at the river’s far end. The game’s world is inspired by typical American landscapes, such as national parks, the Mississippi Delta, or Bayou. In order to survive, you have to acquire food and look out for the protagonist’s health. If she suffers injuries, you have to treat her with bandages and herbs; spending some time in a shelter, where the character can rest and regain strength, would also be a good idea. Gameplay is supplemented with a crafting system, allowing you to combine the items you find into useful tools. The game features atmospheric, cartoonish graphics, and soundtrack composed by highly regarded alternative musician Chuck Regan.

The game takes place in a procedurally generated open world, with the player placed in the role of a character trying to survive the confrontations with supernatural beings without losing his sanity in the eponymous dark wood. During a day, the protagonist must find or construct items, which will help him fend off evil entities at night. The gameplay is relatively difficult, combining features of an action game, adventure game, and a cRPG. Simple, two-dimensional visuals are dominated by semidarkness and dark shapes, and the terrifying atmosphere is further bolstered with disturbing audio.

A real-time strategy game enriched with elements of RPGs, city builders, and survival games. Ancient Cities was developed by the independent developer Uncasual Games. The player assumes the role of a tribal leader living in the Neolithic era. The tasks of the player are to provide shelter and protection against predators for the members of the tribe, as well as to obtain sufficient amounts of food. Gathering resources (the whole in-game economy is based on them) resembles a survival game, as flora and fauna are simulated within a dynamic ecosystem. Consequently, wild plants and animals are soon not enough to sustain a constantly growing tribe. In harsh periods, the player has to distribute supplies wisely - for instance, foods naturally degrade over time. Things can also get complicated as a result of sudden climatic changes and natural disasters - one oftentimes has to decide whether to stay in one's settlement and try to survive a difficult period, or to abandon the base in search for a safer zone. Alongside progression, the player unlocks new upgrades in the extensive technology tree, which allows for improvements to one's methods of crafting and cultivation, making the tribe's existence easier in the long run. Members of the tribe are described by individual sets of statistics, talents and skills. These mechanics are complemented by having more or less friendly relations with other tribes.

Remake of a unique horror action adventure game from Ice-Pick Lodge, which originally launched in 2005 for PC. Its new version was created according to the developers’ first concept, which was previously impossible to realize in full, due to technological and financial limitations. Pathologic takes you to a small town, whose citizens suffer from a mysterious disease. In order to combat the epidemic the local authorities hire a group of independent individuals, whose task is to stop the spread of the virus before it is too late. All characters work independently from each other and conduct their own investigations. When compared with the original version, Pathologic Remake offers much better graphics, generated by the Unity engine. Emphasis was also put on new quests and plots, better gameplay balance, and improved AI of NPCs, as well as professional voiceover, the lack of which was the biggest fault of the original game.

The primary novelty is the possibility of interacting with other players who can turn out to be either precious friends or deadly foes. Don’t Starve Together allows us to play both with our friends and with complete strangers. Another appeal of the expansion is the fact that it comes with the previously released DLC, Reign of Giants, which expands the original title with new bioms, enemies, and a full year cycle. The production can be obtained free of charge by all owners of the vanilla game.

An isometric survival game with co-op gameplay for up to eight players at its core. The Wild Eight tells the story of eight people stranded somewhere in cold Alaska after surviving a plane crash. The player’s role is to team up with other survivors and work together in order to stay alive and find a way back home. The things you do in The Wild Eight include exploring environment, discovering secrets, constructing useful items and tools using a complex crafting system, improving your character’s skills and fighting mutated animals. You must also gather resources and use them for creating a shelter for the entire group as well as provide enough food and warmth for them to survive. Although the key to surviving lies group work, characters controlled by players differ in personality and skills, and you never know if one of your companions turns out to be a ruthless egoist in a critical situation. The Wild Eight is characterized by its original cartoonish stylistics.

A science-fiction sandbox game that takes place in a procedurally generated universe. The story is set in the 24th century, when Earth struggles with overpopulation, climate change, and natural resource depletion. Having found a wreckage of an alien ship, powered by an unknown energy source and containing a map of a distant galaxy, humanity dispatches a powerful space expedition. The player assumes command of one of the starships; however, as a result of a mechanical failure, the vessel crashes on an uncharted planet and the protagonist, as the sole survivor, is put against impossible odds to stay alive. Gameplay-wise, Empyrion: Galactic Survival combines elements of adventure, strategy, and space simulation games, putting emphasis on survival aspects and the extensive crafting system. In the game, we arrive at various kinds of planet, where we have to face different dangers in the form of hazardous climatic conditions or hostile alien races.

A third-person action game focusing on cooperative gameplay. It was developed by the Polish division of Epic Games (formerly known as People Can Fly). The action of Fortnite takes place in a world haunted by zombie-like demons. The players assume the role of operators whose task is to stop the monsters that invade the Earth through a network of portals. The gameplay is divided into two phases — during the day, we have to build a stronghold that repels demon attacks at night. The gameplay mostly involves searching for materials, constructing fortifications, and fighting enemies. The game is distributed in free-to-play business model, offering some additional facilities for optional fee.
