The third installment of the series of turn-based, science-fiction strategy games developed by Altar Interactive studio. The plot of UFO: Afterlight is set shortly after the events depicted in its predecessor, and takes place on the surface of Mars, where the inhabitants of a human colony discover the remains of a mysterious, highly-developed alien civilization. As a result of the excavation works, an ancient defense mechanism gets activated, which results in hordes of battle robots attacking the colonists. The future of the colonists lies in the player's hands. When it comes to the gameplay, the base mechanics don’t differ much from the previous installments, with the main novelty being the completely new environment. However, the authors implemented a new system of resource management, increased the number of technologies and the influence of diplomacy, and added new types of enemies as well as the ability to terraform Mars’s surface.

The third full-fledged installment of the popular series of turn-based strategy games. The Firaxis Games studio, founded by Sid Meier after leaving Microprose, is responsible for its creation. As in the previous iterations of the cycle, in Civilization III we take the wheel as the leader of a selected civilization, and our task is to guide it through the subsequent eras of development, from 4000 BC to the present day. Our duties include e.g. systematic expansion of our lands, foundation and development of new cities, training of military units and settlers, development of new technologies and either leading our nation in war or establishing good diplomatic ties and relations with other nations. There are several roads to victory, aggressive expansionism being only one of them. Sid Meier's Civilization III features 16 playable civilizations, each of which is distinguished by a unique character and skill set. The third installment introduces army commanders, as well as rare resources essential for the production of specific weapons and technologies. Graphic design has been improved significantly, and the gameplay experience is further enhanced by a professional soundtrack.

The eight major entry in a cult cRPG series created by Richard Garriott, whose first part debuted back in 1980 as one of the first commercial products in its kind. The next chapter in the saga about the nameless hero known as the Avatar is a continuation of the events of the previous game. The main antagonist is again the evil demon Guardian, who managed to capture the hero, and wants to take revenge on him for thwarting the demon’s plan of conquering the continent of Britannia. Hence, Ultima VIII: Pagan takes you to a very different world, called Pagan, governed by unfamiliar rules. The player, obviously, has to break free and ultimately defeat evil. When compared to the seventh installment, released in 1992, the game employs a brand new engine, therefore the number of details is significantly greater, although the title still features isometric view. As you play, you control a single hero and gradually develop his statistics and skills over time.
