A sequel to the turn-based science-fiction strategy game from Goldhawk Interactive, developed as a spiritual successor to the classic tactical game, UFO: Enemy Unknown. The story of Xenonauts 2 is not a direct continuation but an alternative retelling of the events from the previous game, telling of an alien invasion on Earth during the Cold War period. In general, the gameplay remains largely the same and is divided into two parts, namely, base management and combat missions. While in the base, we supervise the budget, conduct scientific research, and recruit soldiers, among other things. During the missions, we assume control over a unit comprising of several troops and make use of a myriad of both already known and completely new tactical possibilities. Contrary to its predecessor, the game offers fully 3D graphics, an enhanced physics engine, and an advanced artificial intelligence.

A special edition of the standalone expansion to the second installment of the Stronghold series under the title Stronghold: Legends. The Firefly Studios team is responsible for the production's development. Besides a number of changes and improvements introduced in its basic version, this particular expansion also features exclusive content available on Steam, including bonus maps, campaigns, a set of achievements and trading cards. Just as in the case of its predecessor, the core of Stronghold Legends: Steam Edition consists of three single-player campaigns, during which we step into the shoes of King Arthur, Siegfried and Vlad Dracula. In contrast to the main series, the game focuses on the typical RTS aspects, simplifying the economic and administrative elements. In addition to the classic units, magical and flying troops will also appear on the battlefield - we therefore will get to experience skirmishes with werewolves, ice giants, and even dragons and spellcasters. The Glory Points are a new resource awarded to the player upon emerging victorious in a battle. The game also features a highly competitive multiplayer mode. The developers managed to improve the overall quality of the visuals, which is primarily reflected by the greater detail of textures and improved lighting.

The second standalone expansion for the 2009’s real-time strategy game, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II. The action of Retribution takes place 10 years after the events of Chaos Rising. Despite the defeat of the Black Legion and the demon Ulkair, the fighting hasn’t stopped and the planet Aurelia remains a battlefield for many conflicts between feuding factions of mutually exclusive interests. When the Empire loses its patience and prepares to annihilate all life on Aurelia, the only hope to persuade the Inquisition is to stop the Chaos-corrupted Grand Master Kyras. New story campaigns allow us to assume control of all factions that were available thus far as well as the Imperial Guard. The expansion also introduces several changes to the gameplay mechanics, such as character abilities, powerful AoE attacks, and the possibility of gathering resources and then using them to train units and construct vehicles.

BattleTech, developed by Harebrained Schemes studio, known for Shadowrun, is a tactical battle game, which is a refreshed edition of a game released for PC in the 80s, as one of the first games by Westwood (Command & Conquer). The work was overseen by Jordan Weisman himself – the developer of the acclaimed series, MechWarrior, as well as the original BattleTech tabletop from 1984. The game is set in the year 3025, in a universe in which influential noble houses compete for dominance over individual zones of the Galaxy. In terms of mechanics, the game is a turn-based strategy with RPG elements, in which powerful mechs take the center stage. The centerpiece of the gameplay is a complex and partly non-linear story campaign, but the developers also provide a possibility to play with others in a multiplayer.

A real-time strategy which takes place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The game was released as a result of cooperation between the publisher THQ and Relic Entertainment, the studio known for Homeworld, among other games. The story of Dawn of War focuses on one of the many conflicts in the world of Warhammer. It focuses on Gabriel Angelos – the leader of Blood Ravens chapter of the Space Marines - who tries to stop an Ork invasion on his planet. Similarly as in the majority of real-time strategies, the essence of the game is leading troops during combat. Thanks to the unique setting and various futuristic weapons, the battles are spectacular and very brutal. The game lacks the typical resource gathering element, usually used for improving the base. Instead, the resource system was based on conquering and controlling key locations. The way how units look is worth mentioning – they are based on authentic figurines created by Games Workshop.

A stand-alone expansion for the strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War developed by Relic Entertainment. The basic novelty introduced in Dark Crusade expansion are the two new factions. The first one are the humanoid robots known as Necron. They are a faction of undead killing machines. The second new faction is the Tau Empire. They are technologically advanced and have remarkable skills in diplomacy. The game takes place on a desert planet named Kronus, which sparks also the interest of other factions known from previous installments of the series (there are seven factions in total). In the campaign mode the player must conquer 25 provinces of the planet. The developers decided not to create a typical, lineal story (except for a few key moments), instead giving the players complete freedom in conquering the whole area. A modified character development system is one of the novelties introduced by the expansion – the faction leader can buy better equipment and skills with special points obtained during the game.

The title was created by two Czech programmers who drew inspiration from such classics as SimCity, Civilization and Transport Tycoon. Our responsibilities include taking care of resource supply, vital to erecting more buildings, constant development of our property, and introducing new technologies we invent in special research facilities. We also have to ensure our plants’ security for they are being constantly targeted by the planet’s natives. All of the aforementioned elements are joined together by a quite complex system of dependencies — because factories are more than buildings, they require equipment, armaments and adequate transportation network. The game’s 2D graphics are minimalistic and keep the player occupied with gameplay.
