The main protagonist is rescued by a trio of masked travelers, who ask him to help them in unveiling the truth about the so-called Rites – an unusual competition, in which the winners can earn pardon for their sins and be freed from Downside. Pyre’s gameplay contains two fundamental parts.

In Into the Breach the player controls small squads comprised of mech robots that protect what remains of humanity against the lurking deep underground aliens. They are covered with 64 squares, between which both the player and their opponent can move their units.
