The game takes place in Medieval times and its single player campaign is based on the actual historical events. We can play as one of the four available factions: Slavs, Germanic peoples, Vikings, and Anglo-Saxons. In terms of gameplay, Ancestors Legacy focuses on large-scale battles.

One's prime goal here is to maintain an appropriate balance between expanding the village and being able to survive in a hostile environment. Thus, apart from utilizing more and more space, constructing new buildings and upgrading the existing ones, the player has to give proper winter clothing to their subordinates and deliver them with balanced meals.

Stronghold Legends

The developers introduced a number of changes into the gameplay mechanics, making the game closer to a full-blooded RTS. This time around, the game's extensive economic aspect was abandoned, introducing simplified economy and castle building in order to focus on combat.

The Sims: Medieval is a spin-off installment of the popular life simulator The Sims. The title was developed by Maxis. As the title suggests, the game takes place during the Middle Ages, albeit with a humorous spin. Similarly as in the other Sims games, the player must take care of the needs of the virtual characters. Depending on selected profession (for example king, knight, wizard, bard, blacksmith), the events are shown from different perspective and the available missions vary.

The player assumes the role of one of medieval lords whose task is to transform a small settlement into a powerful and well fortified stronghold and then protect it from the invaders. The castle can constructed by using various premade elements such as walls, towers, bridges or moats.
For Honor

A third-person action game in a quasi-historical setting, with a focus on online competition. The production was developed by the experienced studio Ubisoft Montreal, whose portfolio includes several cult series, including Far Cry and Assassin's Creed. In the game, three factions are pitted against each other: The Chosen, The Legions, and The Warborn, modeled after the Japanese samurai, European knights, and Scandinavian Vikings respectively.

An FPP simulation game, in which we play as a medieval engineer constructing siege machines. Medieval Machines Builder tasks us with creating catapults, trebuchets, ballistae and battering rams, then manually using them on the battlefield.

Voor De Kroon is a Dutch indie game bringing to mind the Mount & Blade series. This work of a single developer takes us to the Middle Ages, allowing us to take on the role of a lord on the estate and participate in great battles involving hundreds of soldiers.

Age of Empires II HD: Rise of the Rajas

The third expansion to Age of Empires II HD, a remade edition of a popular real-time strategy game, developed as a joint effort between SkyBox Labs and Forgotten Empires. The new add-on introduces four Asian civilizations: Burmese, Khmers, Malays, and Vietnamese, each with its unique units. Additionally, the game received two new universal units – battle elephants and imperial infantry. The core of the add-on are four campaigns taking place in South East Asia.
