World of Warcraft Video Game Series
Launched in 2004, the brand was born as a spin-off of the strategic series Warcraft. Since its inception, the company Blizzard Entertainment has taken care of the productions and add-ons representing it.
A brief history of the games in the World of Warcraft series
About the fact that the series Warcraft would receive a spin-off in the form of an MMORPG, we first heard in 2001. Nevertheless, the release of this item was still a song of the future at the time. World of Warcraft debuted on December 23, 2004, ten years after the release of the first installment of its parent series. Although the title required a subscription fee, it attracted more players week after week and month after month, over time beginning to break popularity records. Forging iron while hot, the authors quickly set to work on its development.
Over the years WoW has seen a number of expansionswhich introduced new story lines, quests and locations, as well as other additional content. Over time, thanks to these DLCs and various free updates, World of Warcraft began diverge more and more from its original concept.
Eventually Blizzard Entertainment bowed to fan pressure and in 2019 put the project into their hands World of Warcraft Classic, which is a special variant of their creation, restoring its world and mechanics to the version from its early years. Interestingly, over time WoW Classic began to receive DLC recreating the content of the first add-ons.

As befits MMORPG type productions, games under the banner of World of Warcraft focus on multiplayer fun with thousands of players.. WoW i WoW Classic allow us to create a character in whose skin we find ourselves in the land of Azeroth, torn by conflict between the Alliance (united forces of dwarves, humans, gnomes and night elves) and the Horde (formed by orcs, tauren, trolls and undead). The list of available races and story lines is further extended by expansions released over the years.
While traversing the vast worlds of these games, we complete quests and take part in various events and so-called raids. While there's nothing stopping you from trying to do all of this alone, gathering a team before setting out may be a better option (not to mention joining one of the existing guilds or starting your own).
World of Warcraft series results
World of Warcraft enjoys a very high average rating of 93/100 from industry media, according to Metacritic. World of Warcraft Classic was also highly rated by industry critics, with an average score awarded (again according to Metacritic) of 81/100.
As for the sales performance of WoW - it was the best-selling video game in 2005 and 2006, and in 2010 it boasted 12 million active players (subscribers) from around the world. Admittedly, the number of World of Warcraft subscribers has managed to drop noticeably since then, but the game has remained very popular.

An overwhelmingly popular MMORPG set in the universe known from a cult series of RTS games from Blizzard Entertainment. Several years after the events of WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne, Azeroth is still being shaken by the conflict between the new two opposing factions. The Alliance assembles Men, Dwarves, Night Elves, and Gnomes. On the other side of conflict there is the Horde, consisting of Orcs, Taurens, Undead, and Trolls. In the game you pledge your allegiance to either of the two, create a character by picking one of multiple races and professions, and join thousands of other players from all over the globe in exploration of the vast game world, fighting dangerous foes, and facing various challenges, which are constantly being expanded by Blizzard’s developer team. As you progress in the game, your character develops according to the frames set by the canon of computer role-playing games. In order to play World of Warcraft you must buy the game and pay a monthly subscription.
