A 4X strategy game set in a fantasy universe and produced by the Polish studio Wastelands Interactive. The production was inspired by the cult game Master of Magic from 1994, and the authors designed it as its spiritual successor. The game takes place in a multi-dimensional, procedurally generated universe, where the fierce struggle for dominance requires the use of magic and sword. The gameplay focuses on four classic aspects: exploration, expansion, exploitation, and extermination.

Action in Code Name: S.T.E.A.M takes place in the 19th century London invaded by aggressive creatures from outer space. During our adventures we control a four-person unit of soldiers which is a part of the elite S.T.E.A.M formation. Our job is to fend off the invaders. Combat is turn-based.

What is different is that this time we leave our planet’s surface and focus on managing a fleet of vessels in space. We lead an expedition with a task to save a distant civilization from doom, which requires protecting certain planets and eliminating things that threaten them.

The game is a response to the popular SimCity franchise from Maxis Studios. The game was rejuvenated by Gearbox Software, studio known for the game series Borderlands and Brothers in Arms. We follow the history of Kushan, a forgotten race that was attacked by an alien civilization and almost entirely wiped out. However, over six hundred thousand of Kushans survived in the hypersleep chambers of a gigantic Mothership.

The gameplay is divided into two segments. The first one allows you to overlook a map of the fantasy world and move your units on it. When you encounter an enemy you are moved to a battlefield where you lead your men to battle in which each of the sides uses their abilities alternately.

As we start the game, we create our own character and choose the necessary equipment.

Battle Champs bears a resemblance to the famous Clash of Clans — the player’s task is to gather resources, build a settlement, and then defend it from other participants’ attacks. Apart from regular combat units, giants play an important role in Battle Champs.

Consistently with the rules of the genre, gameplay is primarily about building various guard towers that work in many different ways.
