Dead Island 2: Can you carry more medkits?

Using medkits is one of the basic ways of regenerating health in Dead Island 2, but there are certain restrictions on the amount carried. On this page of the guide, we answer the question whether you can carry more than 5 medkits at the ready. This knowledge can be vital when attempting a boss battle or other strong monster.

Medkit limit

In Dead Island 2, you can carry up to 5 medkits in your inventory. Their current number is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen above the health bar. You can also view them in your inventory, in Consumables tab.

The game doesn't provide an option to increase the carried medkit limit - the number will stay the same throughout the whole of the campaign.

This is troubling, but there is something you can do - replenish your supply of medkits on a regular basis, as a more difficult encounter may see you use 2-4 of them (and this is only a single battle!). Fortunately, medkits are a common item, and moreover, can be bought from Traders or crafted through worktables.

Increasing the potency of medkits

Medkits have one major drawback - the amount of replenished health points does not scale with the player's level. This means that later in the game, medkits lose their importance, as a single use of a medkit will restore a smaller portion of health. This means that you should use them mainly for cheating death and instead heal through Skill Cards - we explained recommended techniques on the How to heal wounds? page of the guide.

Medkit usefulness can be increased a little through Safe Space Skill Card. It causes a small explosion with every use of a medkit. This can briefly stop and render the zombies in the vicnity unstable. Very useful when encircled by monsters.
