Dead Island 2: How to get first firearm?

Dead Island 2 puts a heavy emphasis on using various types of melee weapons in combat, but you can also get firearms in the game. On this page of the guide, we have included information on when you can acquire the first firearm and how to obtain more ranged weapons.

First firearm in the game

In Dead Island 2, you can't use firearms for the first few hours, because you won't find any. The main character has to use melee weapons and various types of throwable weapons (such as bombs, shurikens).

You will find your first firearm in the Justifiable Zombicide main quest. You will start this quest after defeating the boss in the Monarch Studios district - return to the Beverly Hills district. The main character and Sam B will break into Nikki Butte's mansion (previously unavailable during free exploration).

In the aforementioned quest, you must defeat the first Screamer and explore the mansion. You will find the Sporting Rifle hanging on the wall.

The game will let you test the firearm right away - you have to defend yourself from zombies. On the floor, you will find a crate with unlimited ammunition (only for the duration of the battle).

Other types of firearms

After completing this quest, you can:

1. find firearms as loot (e.g. revolver, pistol, shotgun, sniper rifle, uzi) - you can find them mainly in the large boxes in the rooms with fuse boxes;
2. buy firearms from traders - they may appear in their offer along with melee weapons.

You can also find or buy blueprints for crafting ammo for different types of weapons or find/buy ammunition.
