Dead Island 2: How to heal?
In Dead Island 2, your character can easily get injured and be on the verge of death. This page of the guide explains how to heal your character with med kits and skills, and whether the game has partial auto health regeneration.
Healing is important if you want to stay alive in Dead Island 2. This guide will tell you how to use med kits and other healing items, what skills allow you to regenerate health and whether the health bar can refill itself automatically.
Med kits

In Dead Island 2, automatic regeneration is available but limited. The game can help you out primarily when you're on the verge of dying, though it will take a moment before the regeneration starts. When you have more health, the bar refills very slowly.
The main healing method in the game are med kits. You can:
- find them as loot - they are quite common;
- make them at workshops - you can pick up a free med kit blueprint from a merchant called Carlos at Emma's estate.
- buy them from merchants - they are not expensive, but try to do it only when you run out of med kits completely.
Unfortunately, you can only carry 5 med kits. Their current number is displayed in the upper left corner. You have to activate the med kits manually by pressing a dedicated key, and only then will the healing process begin. Make sure no zombies attack you while you're at it.
Energy bars and drinks

You can also find energy drinks and bars - they can renew health points too, and additional energy drinks can also speed up the Fury Mode cooldown (once you've unlocked it).
Unfortunately, you cannot move these items to the inventory to use them when most needed. Pick them up as you go and look for them in the game world if you take more damage.
Health regeneration through skills

Skill Cards can become your best friend when it comes to healing. Examples of healing cards are:
- Invigorating - you can heal via properly executed counterattacks after parrying a monster's blow.
- Safety First - correct blocks or dodges can refill your health bar.
- Rallying Cry - healing can start when you activate War Cry.
- Limb Reaper - the stamina bar can be refilled by Maiming zombies.
- Vivisuction - performing a Dash Strike can reward you with healing.
You can have several regeneration skills active at the same time, and their effects can then stack. Using such abilities can partially replace the need to use med kits. You simply need to perform an action that will trigger the healing effect.
