Dead Island 2: How to disarm rope traps?
Survivors who wanted to take refuge from zombies have set up many traps in LA. On this Dead Island 2 guide page, you will learn what you get when disarming the traps and how it can be done.
Rope traps found in Dead Island 2 can ruin the day of the average zombie hunter/explorer. They are hard to see in dark rooms, and when touched, deal a lot of damage. On this page of our guide, we show how to disarm these traps, and inform whether there is any loot received after disarming one.
Disarming rope traps

If you touch the rope, you'll activate a trap which means being struck by a shotgun blast from a nearby connected weapon that deals a lot of damage. You can approach these contraptions in a few ways:
- Disarm the connected weapon - if you manage to see the gun that is connected to the rope, you can approach it and disarm it by interacting. This will not only disarm the gun - you'll receive some ammo.
- Throw a weapon or a canister at the rope - this way is, most of the time, safe. You won't get that extra ammo as with the first step, but the trap will be activated without you being in the vicinity.
- Forcefully activating the line - if you don't have anything to break the trap with, and the attached shotgun is in an inaccessible location, attack the line with a ranged weapon or use a kick. However, this method has some drawbacks - if you're too close to the trap, you'll most likely lose some health.
Rewards
For disarming a rope trap, at most you'll receive some ammo, usually for the shotgun. When it comes to rope traps, they are most of the time placed in locations with weapon and ingredient chests. Therefore, disarming the trap is only a step in an attempt to get some loot.
