A cult economic strategy game created by Impressions Games and published by Sierra Entertainment. Pharaoh takes place in the Nile valley, several hundred years B.C., and spans from the era of the great pyramids to the New Kingdom period. As the pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, you have to transform local villages into great cities, take care of your people's needs, and make your country the greatest of them all. A big factor in the development of your country is agriculture, which is dependent on the flooding of the Nile. You develop your cities, build famous structures (such as the pyramids, the Sphinx, or the Luxor Temple), and also oversee the trade, religion and culture. Apart from governing the cities, the game also features a tactical combat system, both on land and at sea. Pharaoh features several single-player campaigns, each consisting of several dozen of missions. The 2D visuals of the game are very detailed and utilize an isometric view.

Your task is to fight back the Romans, developing great cities, and building historical monuments, such as the Library of Alexandria or the Pharos of Alexandria. The expansion features 14 new historical scenarios (e.g. fighting side-by-side with Marcus Antonius against Octavian) and introduces new branches of the industry, buildings, and inventions. You also have to face rival nations, such as Persians, Macedonians, and Romans, as well as ordinary thieves. Another novelty introduced in the expansion are natural disasters in the form of hailstorms and locust.

The general gameplay principles haven’t changed, but Unreal Tournament 2003 introduces many improvements and changes to the series, including new gameplay modes, a expanded set of standard and special movements and the possibility to use various vehicles. The most noticeable difference lies in the improved graphics that are based on a new version of Unreal Engine. The players have access to 37 new maps of different shape and environment type (for example desert, jungle, ice, volcanic area and space) and about 50 character models that belong to seven different races. Similarly as in the first installment of the series, Unreal Tournament 2003 offers single player mode in which one can compete with bots controlled by artificial intelligence.

It was at first developed as sequel to Sea Dogs, another similar game created by studio Akella, but the popularity of the movie caused the change of the title. In the game the player assumes the role of an independent ship captain who is caught in the middle of a conflict between 17th century sea empires: England and France. The protagonist must gather a crew and complete a series of mission for the selected empire. As time passes, the protagonist gathers experience, becomes a better captain and warrior. Each battle begins with a planning phase where we can set the formation and tactics employed by our forces, and then watch the results of these decisions in a three-dimensional environment. The physics engine implemented in the game is one of its highlights – the troops’ animations and ragdoll effects, as well as projectile trajectories and impacts are calculated on the fly, creating spectacular, or more often, funny situations. Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is characterized by its sterile visuals – angular character models and objects are coated with uniform, very simple textures, which emphasizes the absurdity of the game.

A co-op-oriented cartoonish FPS game, set during World War II, developed by Reload Games, a studio founded by former members of Infinity Ward. World War Toons does not feature a single player campaign, instead focusing on online battles between two player teams, representing the Allies and the Axis Powers. The gameplay is similar to many other online FPS games, although there's an emphasis on controlling tanks. There are several character classes available, each using different weapons, but your choice is not binding and you can change your class when you find the right weapon on the battlefield. Despite the WW2 setting, the game is not quite historically accurate and features a large dose of humor. The high-quality visuals have been created utilizing the Unreal Engine 4.

Developed by Johan Nagel in cooperation with Slitherine Strategies, Vietnam ’65 is an unusual turn-based strategy game set in the period of the Vietnam War. The action of the game takes place in 1965 in the Ia Drang Valley, located near the border with Cambodia, where the American government dispatched a powerful military support in order to prevent the unification of this part of the country under a single, communist flag. The gameplay builds on the proprietary “hearts and minds” mechanics – instead of waging an open war, a player has to gain favor with the natives and bring the Vietcong’s inhumane practices to naught. The developers ambitiously wanted to show the reality of the Vietnam War, which, apart from the conventional military operations, featured psychological warfare. The game features mediocre visuals; however, the cross-platform gameplay runs smooth for owners of both PC / Windows and mobile devices.
