A sequel to the popular real-time strategy game by Relic Entertainment, set in the cult Warhammer 40,000 universe, where over a dozen feuding factions fight a bloody war. In the story campaign, we can assume control of the armies of four sides of the conflict: humans (Space Marines), Orks, the Eldar, and the Tyranids. Contrary to its predecessor, in Dawn of War II we have a much larger freedom in terms of playing and can determine the order of conquest. Moreover, every mission ends with a fight against a so-called boss who is more resistant to damage and has more powerful attacks at his disposal. In the title, we command units that usually consist of only several troops, which serves to strengthen the tactical side of the gameplay and the way players bond with their subordinates. As we progress, the experience level of our armies also rise, thanks to which they can perform increasingly better on the battlefield.

The first of the DLCs scheduled for the space strategy game Sins of a Solar Empire. The expansion takes the player to the setting of the core game, where three rivaling factions are fighting each other. These include the Trader Emergency Coalition, the Advent, and the Vasari. Among the most important features introduced into the game in this expansion, the player can find an ability to establish space bases serving different purposes, depending on the way and direction the player expands them. Interestingly, these can be constructed not only on planet surfaces, but also in previously uninhabitable space locations, such stars or gas clouds. The DLC features new units as well - these were created to destroy the previously mentioned bases. Additionally, the expansion offers new defensive structures and a set of technical improvements re-balancing the gameplay and eliminating flaws noticed in the base game.

This new game is set in the 18th century, focusing on key events of the period, such as the American Civil War, the Industrial Revolution, and the rivalry over the Eastern trade routes. Although the core concept of the gameplay remains the same, the mechanics went through some major alterations, mainly due to the introduction of sea warfare. The game lets you command entire fleets as well as individual ships. Moreover, external factors, e.g. weather conditions, can affect sea battles. Additionally, the game offers improved advisers, as well as new options of trade, diplomacy, and espionage. Due to the widespread use of firearms in the period, new combat tactics have to be used. However, the key elements of the series, the turn-based strategic layer and large-scale battles, remained unchanged.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising is a Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 expansion, released by Electronic Arts in 2008. It expands the plot with new threads, taking place after the events of the core game. During the three campaigns, the player can support the retreating Soviets, help the Empire of the Rising Sun to regain its former glory, or tackle the corruption ravaging the ranks of the Allies. The fourth mini-campaign tells the tale of one of the Empire's leaders – Yuriko. The developers didn't forget about the implementation of new, previously unknown units, a fresh bunch of FMV cut-scenes with live actors, as well as many more minute upgrades of the mechanics. The game mode list is complimented by the challenge mode known from C&C Generals: Zero Hour. During the fifty missions of increasing difficulty, the player fights against nine AI-controlled leaders.

The first large expansion for the 2007 turn-based strategy game Elven Legacy by Russian studio Ico-Co. Ranger again takes place in the fantasy world of Illis, which has changed since the events of the core game. The Order of Marcus, hiding since many years, decided to remind everyone of its existence, and the famous ranger Cornelius is sent out to prepare the world for its return. The expansion features 16 new missions, 2 powerful heroes, 5 unique artifacts, and 12 new spells. Even though there is only one ending, the missions can be completed in a non-linear order. An important item is Cornelius' magical spear, which has a range of useful attributes.

Along with the expansion we get three more campaigns set in key moments of World War II: Causeway, Battle of Falaise and Ace of Tigers. The most noteworthy campaign is the one in which we take control over a single German tank with its four-man crew and a group of infantry covering it. Each of the tankers has a slightly different role, and the gameplay is a bit like a hybrid of strategy and RPG.

A game belonging to the popular tower defense genre. It's theme, however, is rather unusual, for the players' task is to protect their household against the attacking hordes of zombies. The game was developed by PopCap Games - a company popular for successful arcade-logic games, such as Peggle Deluxe or Bejeweled. In Plants vs Zombies, the levels are made of paths along which the zombies are coming. The player's task is to secure each of those paths. Interestingly, the player's fortification comprises of various plants and flowers growing outside of their house. Each kind of plant has a unique ability. These include things like production the in-game currency, attacking, slowing down the enemies, or exploding in front of them. Zombies are equally diversified - there are many types of attackers, differing in appearance, equipment, and armor. All the subtleties of gameplay are gradually revealed and explained to the players. The game stands out with its atmosphere of comedy, deprived of serious undertones and tension. This was achieved mainly by colorful visuals and a cheerful soundtrack.
