In terms of gameplay, Limbo borrows from classic platform titles, though not without adding a few original features.

The game, designed exclusively for one player, consists in building various constructions of gelatinous slurry balls, i.e. the title Goo, which is permanently disturbed by gravity and other laws of physics. The title, characterized by specific visual setting and original situational humour, was considered one of the most original games of 2008.

The visual setting of the game is stylized on drawings from the school booklet.
