The player traverses an extensive, open world - the game is non-linear and the player is free to explore and look for subsequent clues.

The player assumes the role of a sixteen-year-old boy called Noah, who has been searching for the sister he lost during a war. Following her, the protagonist enters the world of dreams known as Silence, where he puts on the costume of a clown by the name of Sadwick - the protagonist of the original game. It turns out that even the magical land is being torn apart by a war.

Certain districts have been separated from others by a high wall, and this ghetto is used to contain the so called “worse part of society”. The players take control of two kids trying to survive in the cruel new reality.

Guided by Robert, a novice at the Unexpected Events Centre, the player must determine the cause of the situation and save the Apossians.

The task that we have to accomplish is not only to find a way out of the abyss but also to uncover the identity of the amnesiac protagonist. The gameplay of Agony is based on exploration of underground depths and solving logic puzzles. Since the hero does not have any combat abilities, we have to avoid confrontation with hellish beasts.

Again, the player takes on the role of John Yesterday; as for the plot, it was divided into two timelines. Thus the player, familiar with present-day events, is taken back to the era of the Spanish Inquisition. In terms of game mechanics, the game follows the pattern of its predecessor.

The game is based on a comic book series from Marvel, and tells the story of the titular Guardians of the Galaxy. Unlike the classic superhero team ups, this group is made of outcasts and outlaws, and their humor-filled adventures take place in far reaches of the universe.
