Adventure, Multiplayer, Platformers, Action Adventure.

A classic two-dimensional platformer game developed by Broderbund Software. The game set the direction for the genre, and many later platformers were trying to follow it. The player assumes the role of the eponymous Prince of Persia, whose task is to rescue a beautiful princess held by the evil vizier Jaffar who has kidnapped her in order to take over the kingdom ruled by her father. Unless the princess decides to marry Jaffar, she will die. The protagonist has only an hour to free the princess who is being held in the dungeons under the palace. In the game, the protagonist traverses nearly three hundred chambers filled with different traps and armed guards. The gameplay is diversified with puzzle solving and the already mentioned time limit, requiring the player to develop their skills in order to make a progress. The game offers relatively simple visuals, but it stands out with exceptionally realistic character animations. The action is displayed in the classic side-view camera angle, and the game features Middle East-inspired music.

A typical point-and-click adventure game and a continuation to 2012's Yesterday. Yesterday Origins was developed by the creators of the original game - the Spanish Pendulo Studios. Again, the player takes on the role of John Yesterday; as for the plot, it was divided into two timelines. Thus the player, familiar with present-day events, is taken back to the era of the Spanish Inquisition. In terms of game mechanics, the game follows the pattern of its predecessor. The player explores the in-game locations, talks to NPCs, gathers items and solves various puzzles for the most part. Contrary to the first installment however, Yesterday Origins is a fully 3D title, though the creators have once again managed to convey the characteristic atmosphere of the original game through application of the specific, cartoonish art style.

During the adventure, the protagonist discovers details concerning his father, learns of family members he never knew existed, and faces his own nightmares – he is certain that there is a curse on his family, and that eventually he will go insane, just as his predecessors. In Black Mirror, the player travels through depressing locations, chat with NPCs, and solves more or less complicated puzzles – these are similar to those in classic point-n-click adventures. The visions and nightmarish hallucinations play a crucial role in the game – once the hero experiences them, he may learn more about his family house’s past. Franklin is another of the characters the player will be in control of in this game; one day, he (Franklin) discovers that he has died. The player will also assume control of two detectives investigating a case of a body found nearby; Dolores on the other hand, needs to read the testament of her rich uncle. When it comes to the story, the creators mixed a unique taste in humor with different possible endings. However, it is not him, but a giant, griffin-like creature named Trico, who is the central character in this story. The little protagonist is able to climb, jump, and squeeze through holes between rocks, but in some cases he needs help from the griffin, who can remove larger obstacles or carry the boy into seemingly inaccessible places. The authors put much emphasis on the character's interactions with Trico and the creature’s artificial intelligence, as he has his own individual character and reacts differently depending on the situation.

An extraordinary point-and-click adventure game and a spiritual successor to the legendary The Neverhood, a game developed in 1996 by Doug TenNapel. This new title was created by the author of the original game, who managed to gather nearly entire old staff back together for this project. The story tells of the adventures of a likeable alien named Tommynaut, who survives a spacecraft crash and finds himself on a strange planet, where together with his companion, dog Beak-Beak, the hero gets captured and locked in the titular stronghold of Armikrog. What distinguishes the game, is its unique artwork – in-game locations and character models were made of plasticine and brought to life using time-lapse technique. This time-consuming work was done by a number of puppeteers, animators, and sculptors. Thanks to their work, the developers managed to recreate the unique atmosphere of the original game, which, apart from interesting story and a cast of likeable characters, offered a large doze of wacky humor.

What is worse however, is that a neighboring forest has apparently kept some dark secret concealed. The plot serves the role of an parallel to human existence, with themes such as death, transience of all things or longing for certain moments from the past elaborated on throughout the story. The player is required to explore (by jumping across platforms mostly) a unique in-game environment, solve simple puzzles connected to it, talk to NPCs, as well as engage in joyful activities, such as playing the guitar or having fun with the in-game friends. What distinguishes Night in the Woods from other titles, are its visuals based on an original art style - those were crafted by Scott Benson. The unique soundtrack on the other hand, was created by Alec Holowka.
