Another installment in the highly-rated action adventure game franchise following on the eponymous Prince, who in the past carelessly unsealed the mythical sands of time. After events of the previous part of the game, the protagonist return to his home – Babylon – plunged in the chaos of war. Soon it turns out that the previous actions of the hero led to the birth of his dark alter ego, whose spirit gradually takes over control over the protagonist's will. Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones expands the mechanics implemented in the two previous installments and introduces new improvements to the combat system, as well as some innovative uses for the dagger of time and skills unavailable before, like sneaking. The biggest novelty offered by the game is the possibility of controlling two characters different with personalities, fighting styles, and abilities.

A prequel to Life is Strange – an episodic adventure game developed by DONTNOD Entertainment. The new title was developed by Deck Nine Games and it enables the player to assume the role of Chloe Price, a character well known from the original game. The story presents how the protagonist met Rachel Amber and how the strong bond between two teenagers was born. It is worth mentioning that Chloe has no special abilities – this means that the choices made during the game cannot be changed. Life is Strange: Before the Storm focuses on gradually revealing pieces of the story and making various decisions that impact the plot. All other aspects of the game, like exploration, interactions with NPC and riddle solving, are secondary to the above mentioned elements. Similarly to the first entry in the series, the game has expressive graphics that features pastel colors.

A three-part episodic adventure game by Telltale Games that came out as an expansion to The Walking Dead: Season Two. The game takes us back to the world where human population was decimated by a zombie virus. As the title suggests, it focuses on one of the most recognizable characters from the original graphic novel – Michonne, the series' relentless, sword-wielding heroine. Since the original story revealed only shreds of her past, the game tries to fill in the gap by depicting the events that caused Michonne to leave Rick, Ezekiel and the rest of the group, and why she came back. Gameplay mechanics is the same as in the previous installments in The Walking Dead series, therefore, you mainly explore, talk to other characters, and make tough choices that determine how the story unfolds. The game does not include logic puzzles, which usually are the landmark of the genre, instead featuring simple action sequences.

Another major installment in the famous action adventure game series. In terms of story, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is set between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within, and focuses on the events that caused the drastic, dark change within the Prince. Upon reaching his brother’s realm, the Prince finds the capital city about to fall, besieged by an enemy army. In an attempt to protect the citizens from a massacre, the city’s ruler resorts to using a powerful, yet dangerous magic that eventually turns against him. The game itself is based on the core mechanics of the series. Therefore, we can expect multiple platforming sequences, environmental puzzles, and battles against powerful enemies. An interesting addition is the ability to control the forces of natures, which comes in handy both in combat and when traversing subsequent locations. Of course the series’ landmark feature — the ability to reverse and slow down time — is back. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is powered by the Anvil engine, the technology previously used in the two first Assassin’s Creed games.

Hated by everyone around, Jack is trying to reconcile his duties with conducting a private investigation in order to discover who framed him. The plot of Beat Cop is non-linear and its many endings depend on your decisions. Interestingly, the game was inspired by American crime TV shows from the 70s and 80s, which is reflected in its atmosphere and humor. The time-management element of the production is most visible when you're patrolling the streets of Brooklyn, while during the investigation segments it becomes a detective/adventure game. Beat Cop has a distinct retro feel thanks to its pixel-art graphics and oldschool soundtrack.

The gameplay is diversified with puzzle solving and the already mentioned time limit, requiring the player to develop their skills in order to make a progress. The game offers relatively simple visuals, but it stands out with exceptionally realistic character animations. The plot serves the role of an parallel to human existence, with themes such as death, transience of all things or longing for certain moments from the past elaborated on throughout the story. The player is required to explore (by jumping across platforms mostly) a unique in-game environment, solve simple puzzles connected to it, talk to NPCs, as well as engage in joyful activities, such as playing the guitar or having fun with the in-game friends. A science-fiction survival horror game developed by the independent studio Lunar Software. The story focuses on discovering the causes behind the staff disappearance at the Lunar Research Station. In the game, the player travels through dark and claustrophobic chambers of the facility, gradually uncovering its secrets. The main item the player uses throughout the game is a special fixing tool which resembles a pistol. The player can modify this tool using disks which can be found around the station, thus the device can be used also as a weapon. The creators placed special emphasis on a convincing atmosphere the experience comes with, and the survival aspect of it. The latter means that the interface is minimal and each death of the protagonist is permanent. Many parts of the virtual station are randomly generated, such as different threats or the locations of NPCs. As a result, each playthrough can be completely different.

Again, the player takes on the role of John Yesterday; as for the plot, it was divided into two timelines. Thus the player, familiar with present-day events, is taken back to the era of the Spanish Inquisition. In terms of game mechanics, the game follows the pattern of its predecessor. The player explores the in-game locations, talks to NPCs, gathers items and solves various puzzles for the most part. Contrary to the first installment however, Yesterday Origins is a fully 3D title, though the creators have once again managed to convey the characteristic atmosphere of the original game through application of the specific, cartoonish art style.

In contrast to its predecessors, which were very short and simple productions, the newest installment in the Samorost series is a full-fledged production offering several hours of gameplay. The game’s unquestionable strength are its audiovisuals. The graphics were created with a technique that combines photography and hand-drawn elements. The atmosphere is further enhanced by the soundtrack composed by Tomas Dvorak, known from previous productions by Amanita Design.
