Developed by Big Ant Studios, AO Tennis is an advanced tennis simulator. This is the first official video game revolving around the Grand Slam Australian Open Tournament. Apart from this, the game features also multiple minor tournaments taking place on hard, soft, and grass courts. On their road to becoming the champion, the players get to control dozens of real tennis players (both men and women), whose apparition and behavior on the court have been thoroughly modeled after their real selves.

The game, developed by Climax, the authors of Sudeki, Bloodforge, and Rocket Knight, offers the ability to attempt to conquer one of the five most popular surfing locations in the world, such as Bells Beach in Australia or Waimea Bay in Hawaii. We are left with six surfers whose abilities and appearance can be customized thanks to a complex character creation system.

A sports arcade game from the developers of popular MMO title EVE Online, intended for virtual reality devices. Sparc lets us take part in the eponymous sports discipline resembling the classic game of dodgeball. The players take static positions at the opposing ends of a long hallway and try to hit the opponent with the ball using motion controllers. Being stuck in one place doesn’t mean we can’t dodge by moving our body.

A futuristic sports game. The title is an unusual hybrid of hockey and tennis. It was developed by independent studio High Horse Entertainment. The players participate in matches that take place on a rectangle field that is divided into two halves with a net. By throwing the titular disc above it, the player is trying to hit the opponent’s zone. Depending on the place of the hit, it is awarded with from one to five points.

NBA Playgrounds is an arcade sports game inspired by the NBA Street game series. It was developed by Saber Interactive, a studio mostly known for their futuristic first-person shooters like TimeShift and Inversion. In NBA Playgrounds, players take part in basketball matches. Even though the gameplay is based on classic rules, it has not much to do with reality. The players can jump incredibly high and do various tricks during those jumps.

A first-person sports game, created mainly for VR goggles and developed by ZEN Studios. It is a sequel to 2010 Planet Minigolf. This game represents a very arcade approach to golf, although quick fingers are not the only thing that is necessary during the game. The developers implemented a rather realistic physics system which means that, in order to succeed, we need practice, skills and knowledge of the game mechanics.

On PC, the title is a cycling management game in which the player doesn’t have direct control over the cyclists – our task is to form the best possible team that consists of training staff and sportsmen recruited by, for example, talent hunters. One of the keys to success is to adopt the right tactic for subsequent races.

Similarly to its predecessors, in the game, we lead one of thirty clubs of the American MLB league to take part in the 2017’s baseball league games. Given the full MLB license, there are actual teams and thirty existing sports arenas. Moreover, we can also play matches with classic rosters from previous seasons.

Another installment in the sports game series dedicated to Australian football. The title, developed by Wicked Witch Software, is a hybrid of sports and management simulations – while playing, we not only play matches but also take care of the team manager’s responsibilities. Our tasks include determining team composition and tactics, taking part in drafts and making transfers as well as negotiating contracts and balancing the club’s budget. There are over 80 licensed teams at our disposal.

Laser League is a futuristic sports game, developed mostly for PC Windows. You participate in brutal, deadly games, in which two teams of four people each fight each other on maps full of dangerous lasers. The production features only a multiplayer mode.

NHL 18 is another installment in the sports game series developed by EA Sports – a division of Electronic Arts. The gameplay revolves around the same mechanics as the previous installments, trying to faithfully represent ice hockey games; however, the developers implemented some major changes. One of them is the Defensive Skill Stick system, ensuring better control over a player and the hockey stick during defensive maneuvers.
