They Are Billions: Infected Swarm #9

The ninth in order Infected Swarm mission in They Are Billions introduces a new enemy type - Chubbies. During this mission, you will encounter regular infected as well as Chubbies - big mutants you have encountered during other missions. You unlock this mission after completing The Nest of the Harpy. This chapter contains a walkthrough and tips for this rather difficult type of missions.

How to start: unlocked after completing The Nest of the Harpy mission.

Mission objective:

1. Destroy all infected.
2. Survive all the hordes.

The mission

Lucifer units are very helpful in this mission.

1. The option to recruit Lucifers will help you a lot here. This guide assumes that you have access to these units.
2. The enemies will come from 5 directions - from the top, from the left side, and from the two paths at the bottom of the map, and from the right. The army approaching from the south-west will be the largest - place more units in that place.
3. Place Lucifers at the end of each path to block the majority of the passages. If a passage is 3 tiles wide, 2 such units will be enough to block it. A passage 5 tiles wide will be blocked with 4 Lucifers.
4. Place 1-2 rows of Soldiers behind the Lucifers. Also, place 1 row of Snipers behind the Soldiers. The ratio of Soldiers to Snipers during this mission should be about 3:2 (have 32-35 Snipers for every 50 Soldiers).
5. Spend the remaining Empire Points (200-300) on Stakes Traps. It is necessary to place them 3-4 tiles away from Lucifers, as their fire will destroy these structures.
6. Once the mission starts, click on the Snipers and Soldiers and set their firing priority to "strong enemies". Thanks to that, they will target Chubbies first, instead of the usual "runners", which will be defeated by Lucifers.

Tips

Lucifers are great against weak enemies. Snipers and Soldiers will deal with Chubbies.

Below you can find a few tips for this mission:

1. You don't need Lucifers here, but they will be very useful during this mission. These units are also handy during other campaign missions so try to unlock them. If you don't have access to them yet, try to complete other missions and then come back here after you unlock Lucifers.
2. Snipers are a must here - without them, it will be difficult to eliminate Chubbies. If these units manage to reach your defense fortifications, they will destroy them in no time. 4-6 Snipers on each side should solve the problem of these opponents. They will also work great against armored runners.
3. While you are placing Stakes Traps, remember to not place them too close to the Lucifers - their fire can destroy these objects. You should also remember to not place Stakes Traps too far away - enemies will start regenerating their health 2-3 after the stop receiving damage.
