How to unlock the quest: through conversation with Baraka.

Quest giver: Baraka (point 15 on the map)

You must accept the plan to murder Ixil.

You can unlock the quest by speaking with Baraka, protecting the gate to the Forbidden Valley, but no sooner than after completing another side quest called "A Delectable Meal". Baraka will want you to murder Ixil, to get revenge on the man who wanted to poison him. Listen to Baraka's plan and take the amulet from the shaman (Baraka's Amulet), which will be used to outsmart Ixil.

Speak with Ixil and give him Baraka's Amulet.

Go back to the natives village and speak with Ixil again (point 11 on the map). Give the man the amulet you've received from Baraka. Ixil will want to see the body of Baraka for himself, and will depart in the direction of the large gate. Don't attack Ixil just yet, but continue following his trails.

Wait for Ixil to get away from the village and attack the man.

Ixil will stop to the South-East from the large gate (point 15a on the map). After you've noticed that the man has stopped, approach him and, after a brief conversation, start the encounter. If you can, try preventing the man from invoking his spells, as they can weaken your party considerably. Murder Ixil and go back to Baraka to tell him the good news.

Note - from obvious reasons, Ixil won't be able to teach the Nameless Hero anymore, so if you want to learn some skills associated with the man, buy them before this quest.

Note - you can tell the chieftain Hirutu about the fact that Ixil is dead, but aside from a short conversation it won't change anything.
