Risen 3 Titan Lords: The Shadow Lord of Betrayal

How to unlock the quest: through conversation with Magnus.

Quest giver: Magnus (point 12 on the map).

Ask Magnus about the activity of Shadows.

General Magnus is a character which you will have to meet with many times while doing main quests, but he can also offer you some of side quests as well. During the conversation with Magnus, bring out the topic of the monsters activity on the island, thanks to which you will learn that one of the Shadow Lords has his lair in the area. Magnus will show you the place in which you can find the mentioned creature.

Shadow Guardians are the most troublesome enemies you encounter here.

Shadow Lord has his lair in the Deadlands, located in the South-Western section of the Taranis Island (point 12a on the map) and you can reach them from different sides. The Deadlands itself are, unfortunately, protected by a large amount of strong creatures, such as Skeletons, Minions, Hellhounds and Cave Bats. The foe you should watch out for the most is a gargantuan Shadow Guardian - try to avoid their swift and strong attacks, relying on your dodges and / or ranged attacks.

The Shadow Lord himself.

After reaching the lair of Shadow Lord of Betrayal, get rid of Hellhounds accompanying him as quickly as possible, and after the lord is alone shift your attention upon him. Try to remain in motion all the time, trying to throw some of your melee attacks, or rely on ranged combat. For defeating the creature you will receive 600 Glory Points. Also, don't forget to examine the fallen lord's body, and collect a Raw Black Heart. Afterwards, go back to Magnus (point 12 on the map) and pass on the good news.

Note - Black Heart can be used to lengthen the health bar of the main character. You can find detailed description about this topic in the one of the quests of the crew called "Black Magic Experiments".

Note - Shax can help you in your quest to defeat the Shadow Lord. He will join your party upon the beginning of the side quest called "Forgotten Treasures".
