How to unlock the quest: through conversation with Downes.

Quest giver: Downes (point 14 on the map)

Downs will appear in the tavern in the later part of the game.

You can unlock this side quest after, in the early morning hours, a man called Downes appears in the tavern (point 14 on the map). At first, the character is busy protecting the entrance to the main building of the mages, and he will be able to leave his post only after you've completed a main quest called "Visiting Rights". After initiating a conversation with the man, you can propose Downes to take part in an arm-wrestling mini-game, putting 200 Gold at stake at the same time. The arm-wrestling mini-game is rather simple. In the very beginning you just have to press the appropriate keys / buttons in accordance to the icons shown on the sides of the screen (in the case of the PC version of the game, you will have to use movement keys - WSAD). At some point in time, you will have to rhythmically press a single, selected key / button. If you press the key / button a sufficient number of times, you will win the mini-game.

Note - if you have developed your Silver Tongue ability to at least 40 points, you can convince Downes to take part in the further rounds of the mini-game. Unfortunately, you can only win 15 gold this time.
