This page guide to the game Dying Light 2 describes potential errors that may result in the game crashing or even freezing (causing everything to stop moving on the screen and the game to no longer respond) - these issues may force you to close and restart the game.
Note - The bugs we describe aren't guaranteed to appear in your game. Some bugs and issues are specific to certain game versions and particular gaming platforms. Additionally, many of these bugs should be fixed in the coming patches, released after Dying Light 2 launches.
While playing Dying Light 2, you may experience the game crashing or freezing. This problem definitely occurs in the PS5 version, although it may also appear on other consoles and on PC. Unfortunately, as a result of the game suddenly crashing, you may be forced to restart it and there is a high chance that you will lose all progress since the game last autosaved.
Fixing or reducing the problem
Unfortunately, there is no proven solution that eliminates freezing for good. However, you can try to reduce this issue in various ways:
- Make sure you have the latest version of the game installed to ensure that many of the bugs have already been patched out. If you have the PC version, install the latest GPU drivers and the latest version of Windows.
- If the game keeps crashing, try to select a different graphics mode (on consoles) or change / lower the graphics quality (on PC).
- It may be a good idea to disable the game from accessing the Internet by disconnecting your Internet connection or temporarily blocking Dying Light 2 in your firewall settings. Some crashes may result from errors with the game servers, even if you are playing in single player mode.
- Try to use fast travel as little as possible and avoid prolonged use of the paraglider in the city. This might cause the game to encounter significant issues with loading new sections of the city.
