On this page of the Dying Light 2 guide, we answer an important question - is it worth leaving safe locations after dark and explore the game world at night. We have compiled unique elements available only at night. However, we also warn you about potential dangers that do not occur during the day.
Unique night quests and activities
Traveling at night is much more profitable in Dying Light 2 than in was the first game. The main difference is that you don't have to run away from Volatiles and other elite monsters anymore. At night, you can easily reach the unique loot and perform other activities that are difficult or impossible during the day.
The world map in Dying Light 2 has icons for various optional activities, including:
- forsaken stores,
- dark hollows,
- GRE Quarantine,
There are many groups of monsters in these places during the day. By going there after dark, you will be able to explore and complete them much easier. This also applies to all kinds of abandoned buildings, tunnels, and sewers.
GRE anomalies are a new night activity. You can only complete them at night because, during the day, the elite monsters will not appear. You also won't be able to reach the inhibitor chests.
Dying Light 2 has night quests, i.e. main and side missions that can only be completed after dark. You can read this information from their descriptions. You can also speed up the time to start the mission right away.
The last big thing that can encourage you to perform activities at night is the XP Bonus for combat and parkour. This way, you can develop your character faster, although you have to remember that the bonus experience can be lost - it will happen if you die before the morning comes.
Main dangers at night
As already mentioned, Dying Light 2 is generally safer at night, but you still need to be careful. The most problematic are the howlers who can start chases - this will happen if you get too close to them. Try to avoid the howlers from a safe distance or perform stealth takedowns on them (e.g. Smash).
The second serious problem is Aiden's declining immunity. At night, the Immunity bar activates, and you cannot let it drop to zero because you will fail. Fortunately, the game has numerous methods of restoring and extending the immunity bar. We have described them in more detail on the Immunity - how does it work? page.
Overall, the perks of traveling at night outweigh the risks. You should do night expeditions as often as possible - you will be able to get valuable loot and develop your character faster. Just remember to be vigilant - you don't want to die, lose items, or experience points.
