Monstrous Toddler - Bai Kru is not a mandatory boss. Nevertheless, it provides an interesting challenge and grants valuable rewards. Reaching the area can be a bit tricky, as you'll need to take a boat to Rivulet. Luckily, our Wuchang Fallen Feathers guide has all the information you need to locate and defeat the boss.

Bai Kru in a nutshell

  1. Bai Kru tends to roar quite often. If you want to avoid constant stuns, you should equip the Dracolich Pendant. It protects you from roars and slightly boosts your defense to physical attacks.
  2. Despite its massive size, the boss can be stunned, letting you use Obliterate. However, this takes time and can only be done once per fight. Additionally, you must target the boss’s head.
  3. The fight with Bai Kru has only one phase, but he has significantly more HP than other bosses. He is a massive damage sponge. For this reason, using Flame Temperance is a good idea. Burn can be applied quickly if you use a weapon that deals fire damage. Each attack after applying Burn will deal additional damage.
  4. Alternatively, you can use ice attacks to apply Frostbite. If neither status suits your playstyle, it’s worth equipping NeedleLeech to regain health by attacking.
  5. Physical resistance to Blunt or Slash is advisable. Some magic resistance is also recommended, since the boss has a few magical attacks.
  6. The boss moves around the map frequently, so skills that enhance mobility are a good choice.

How to reach Bai Kru?

Once you’ve defeated the Fierce Tiger, head to the cave where the Storyteller is waiting. At the end of the cave, you’ll find a new shrine and a location called Ferry Overlook. When you make your way down to the harbor, you’ll see a boat with a calling bird perched next to it. Approach the boat and interact with it. You will be transported to a new location, Rivulet.

After resting at the new Shrine, head left toward the tunnel. Once you’ve met a hat-wearing NPC, continue forward. This will trigger the fight with Bai Kru.

Bai Kru's attacks

  1. Rise and fall - after standing still briefly, the boss will leap toward you, trying to crush you under his weight.
  1. Five hit combo – Bai Kru begins with two slow strikes, pauses briefly, then follows with two rapid arm swings, finishing by jumping backward. If you’re standing close in front of it, you'll get hit.
  1. Water cannon - there are two variations of this attack. The first type is horizontal, with the boss sweeping a continuous stream of water from one side to the other, twice, before bringing the stream back to the center. The second attack is a vertical stream of water.
  1. Water bubble - the second magical attack summons a water bubble that stuns you if it collides with the surroundings.
  2. Double Jump - Bai Kru runs on two legs, leaps once, lands, and immediately jumps again.
  1. Grab - you will hear a distinctive sound. This attack is typically performed after stunning you.
  1. Guts - when the boss's health drops belown half, it will frequently opens its stomach and attack you with its innards.

How to fight Bai Kru?

You need to be prepared to use skills or weapon disciplines that not only help you close the distance to the boss but can also apply effects - preferably Burn or Frostbite. Since the boss jumps more frequently than it walks, landing hits can often be quite challenging. Therefore, charged attacks should be avoided, unless you can execute them very quickly.

If a boss takes enough damage within a short period of time, you'll be able to Obliterate it. The key is that instead of focusing solely on its head, which is the only way to Obliterate it, it’s more effective to keep striking it with long combos. You should preferably use status applying moves.

The fight mainly revolves around avoiding the boss' aerial attacks, building up Skyborn Might, and using strong but quick strikes to spend Skyborn Might. When it starts attacking you with its guts, quickly move to its side or behind it. Be careful, though - when you get behind the boss, it will jump back and run away, dealing damage if it touches you.
