The Demon of Obsession is a secret, optional boss that you will only be able to encounter if you meet certain conditions. The fight is very similar to that with another boss - Nightmare Demon. How to fight the Demon of Obsession?

To be able to fight the Demon of Obsession, you must meet several key conditions. First, complete all the quests of two NPCs - Fang Yao and He Youzai. At the end of region 4 you should receive two pieces of Ring of Samsara thanks to this. Do not use these items under any circumstances.

Then, after defeating Bo Magus and before fighting The Reborn, you will encounter Xuanyangzi on the path leading to the Reverent Temple. Talk to him, then select the Remain Silent option.

The penultimate step will be to defeat Eternal Glory - Zhao Yun. This is an optional boss. There are also several different stages to getting into the fight - we described this on the page dedicated to the boss.

The final step will be to go to the fifth region and find the red door with the puzzle. They are located to the left of the Depths of the Capital altar.

It's worth backing up your save at this point, as you'll have to choose the wrong answer, which (if you answered all the other puzzles correctly) could prevent you from unlocking a different ending.

After hearing the riddle, you will have to answer: The wheel turns anew. You will then be teleported to a new location, right before the entrance to the boss arena.

Demon of Obsession in a nutshell

1. The boss fight is very similar to the Nightmare Demon. The difference is that now the boss can also use all spells, both magical and feathering.
2. This is why it is worth equipping your armor with good defense against magic and feathering.
3. It is very easy to throw the opponent off balance. The catch is that Obliterate won't be possible even if you hit her in the back. Therefore, a good tactic is to use Needle - Leech to be able to steal life and spam charged axe attack so that the opponent cannot attack at all. And even if she does, you'll activate Clash with that attack, negating a lot of the boss's damage.

Demon of Obsession's attacks

This boss's attacks show the full potential of what you, as Wuchang, can do. This boss changes weapons frequently, so she can fight with any weapon and technique. The only difference between Demon of Obsession and Nightmare Demon is that from now on the boss also has all possible magic spells and feathering.

How to fight the Demon of Obsession?

Instead of focusing on every blow this boss throws, you simply need to go on the offensive and not give her a moment's respite. Any stronger attack, whether charged or done at the end of a series of light attacks, will throw this opponent off balance, giving you valuable time to continually chip away at her HP.

Your whole plan for this fight should be to charge a heavy attack, slightly breaking the boss's stance, and then doing a series of light attacks. Just keep repeating that.

Most of the boss's weapon attacks are deflectable with Clash or Deflect. It is important not to let the boss get too far away, because then she will use long-range, powerful spells. The only time you don't want to get up close and personal with the Demon of Obsession is when she starts attacking with fists. She is then very fast and deals a lot of damage.

Once the boss moves away, use your weapon abilities that closes the distance, such as Empyrean Crash. Once Needle - Leech has stopped working, use another Temperance. Then you will be safe and can keep attacking the enemy.
