Wuchang Fallen Feathers: How to defeat Commander Honglan?

Commander - Honglan in a nutshell

1. Commander - Honglan is a human. This means that some skills that can throw smaller enemies into the air will be really helpful here, so it's worth using them.
2. The boss is vulnerable to Poise Breakup. You can use Temperance with Poise (you can unlock it in the character skill tree when developing Wuchang) to deal a strong critical hit that takes away a lot of HP when it's filled up.
3. If you don't have any Clash skills, buy them as soon as possible. Without it, the fight against Honglan will be very difficult, as she attacks very often, and it is difficult to stop her attacks.
4. You'll need a lot of physical resistance, so focus on that defensive modifier when choosing your armor. Moreover, it's worth investing in defense-boosting spells and amulets.
5. You don't have to worry about any statuses imposed by the boss. she deals mainly physical damage and is unable to inflict any negative effects.
6. The fight is divided into two phases, and in the second one, the opponent is even more aggressive and her attacks shoot out a wave of air very often.
7. Commander has a lot of attacks in her range that can be easily avoided by dodging to the side.

Commander - Honglan attacks

1. Charge with a thrust - if there is a considerable distance between you, Honglan will prepare her sword for a thrust and then quickly fly towards you. This attack is performed in a straight line.

1. Kunai throw - the boss will jump back, then throw several kunai two times.

1. Sword combo - Honglan often performs a mid-range thrust, followed by a spinning sword attack in quick succession.

1. Air kick combo - Commander can also jump into the air and start spinning around her axis while performing a series of kicks.
2. Air slash - When attacking, the boss can create a projectile of air that will quickly fly to Wuchang. Projectiles can be both horizontal and vertical.
3. Attack from above - Honglan can jump into the air, then fall down and hit you with her swords. The important thing here is the timing of your dodge, not the direction.

How to fight Commander - Honglan?

If you're planning to dodge all of Commander Honglan's attacks and wait for the perfect moment to strike, it might never come. The boss attacks a lot and jumps away when you try to hit her, making it hard to land a blow. That's why the Clash ability is required, or at least Block / Deflect, which some weapons have. Without this, it will be difficult for you to hurt Honglan in any way.

What's more, some skills can knock down or even toss smaller opponents into the air. A good example is the axe and the Rampage skill. If you have this ability in your build, you should definitely use it when the boss is vulnerable for a longer period of time. It's a great opportunity to deal some serious damage.

There's another way, but it's harder to do. Approaching Commander Honglan from behind and attacking her with a strong, charged attack. The thing is, the boss rarely gives us a chance for that and can easily dodge when you're about to make a move. However, if you succeed, it will be possible to use Obliterate.

Attack when your opponent starts her attack. You can even try respec, which means reallocating your stats, if you're having too much trouble defeating this boss.
