Wuchang Fallen Feathers: Tips and tricks

Kill birds

As you explore the game world, you will often hear strange bird calls. Kill them when you spot them. You will receive Aurumu Feathers for doing so. It's one of the best consumables as it grants three temporary effects:

1. Increases maximum health,
2. Increases maximum stamina,
3. Increases all damage dealt.

There's no other way to get them, so always have a few throwing daggers on you. You won't always be able to hit the birds with regular attacks, as they may be hiding in places you can't access.

Defeat enemies with red eyes

These are generally more powerful versions of regular enemies, but defeating them can reward you with a Faint Red Feather. This material is needed to upgrade your weapons. Moreover, sometimes they can guard interesting treasures, so it's worth taking the risk and killing them.

Use emotes on different objects

You will often come across various sculptures or objects that you can interact with. If you do, you may find a blue word in the text that will hint at which emote you need to use to get a memory about Wuchang's sister and earn a reward. For example, if the note mentions a dance, use the Water Dance emote.

Remember to enter the Dream to replenish your supplies

You will find altars throughout the game, which will allow you to upgrade your character, change a weapon's Benediction, or add various add-ons to Temperance. They are also a kind of a checkpoint. If you rest near one of them, you will restore your health and supplies. Keep in mind that the enemies will respawn if you do so.

The catch is that you have to first select the Enter Dream option. Keep that in mind, because even after using fast travel, you will still be in the same state you were in before teleporting. Therefore, use the Enter Dream option if you ran out of healing items.

Invest in Clash skills

Clash is a mechanic that allows you to reduce taken damage, provided your attack clashes with the enemy's. This ability is especially useful in fights against multiple bosses, as they attack very frequently. Therefore, being able to counter their blows is very helpful.

Traps are everywhere - be careful every step of the way

Players who enjoy soulslikes are certainly familiar with getting suddenly flattened by massive rolling boulders or enemies standing atop ladders, waiting to toss you off. Such things happen, but they're usually not that common.

In Wuchang Fallen Feathers, on the other hand, such occurances are very frequent, especially in the late-game. Mines hidden in thick snow? Little hands grabbing you from pools of blood? Spotting a rare item only to have something fall on your head when you approach it? You may come across quite a few of such situations, definitely more than in other games of this genre. Therefore, be mindful of your surroundings every step of the way. If you see an item you can pick up, it's better not to run towards it immediately.

The back is a weak spot for most enemies

The backstab in Wuchang Fallen Feathers works a bit differently than in other games. You can't just execute it with a regular hit to an enemy's back. A charged heavy strike to the back will allow you to perform Obliterate. The opponent will fall to their knees and a distinctive mark will appear on them.

This attack deals a lot of damage and can be performed multiple times. Therefore, mastering and using it is recommended to defeat more difficult enemies.

Clothing is very important

Clothing is very important in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. It's not only used to change your appearance, but also to reduce damage of a given type. The problem is that while many clothes offer useful bonuses, they also come with negative modifiers. So, it's important to pick your clothes depending on what you will be fighting at a given moment.
