Wuchang Fallen Feathers: How to defeat the Nightmare Demon?

Nightmare Demon in a nutshell

1. Nightmare Demon is actually an Inner Demon that appears when your Madness reaches 100%. This boss can switch weapons during the fight, giving it access to a wide variety of attacks. It uses the same attacks Wuchang does when switching to the corresponding weapon.
2. The opponent is the same size as Wuchang, making it very easy to knock down or launch into the air.
3. Forget about using Obliterate. There’s no point in trying to sneak up behind it and hit it with a charged move - you can't stagger it.
4. Clash attacks work best here, as the opponent is constantly advancing on you and striking.
5. This fight can be ended quickly by choosing the axe as your main weapon and using charged attacks - provided the axe has the Clash effect.

Nightmare Demon's attacks

Nightmare Demon is actually an enemy version of Wuchang. Listing all her attacks is nearly impossible, as they depend on what weapon she's using. Simply upgrade your weapon and abilities, then Respec to allocate your stats to a different weapon. Only then will you truly see what she is capable of.

Most fights with her will end with you relentlessly attacking her, leaving her little opportunity to strike back.

How to fight the Nightmare Demon?

This is one of the simpler fights in the game. If you’ve fought the Inner Demon before, all you really need is an attack with Clash and to keep relentlessly attacking her. The axe is perfect for this, mainly because its charged hit has good reach, deals significant damage, and each attack negates enemy damage if they strike you simultaneously - provided you’ve unlocked the skill that adds the Clash effect to this attack in the skill tree.

Try to knock the Nightmare Demon down with this attack. Once you do, immediately follow up with a full light combo to get Skyborn Might. Then use your weapon skills - such as Rampage - which will knock the opponent down again, and start all over again. This should make the fight very easy. The boss has a lot of HP, but it doesn't have any more surprises up its sleeve.
