Summer Game Fest 2022 Summary [UPDATED]

Summer Game Fest 2022 will take place the day after tomorrow. What to expect? Where to watch Geoff Keighley's show? What games will we see? We summarize the official and unofficial information.

UPDATE #1

Event summary added.

Summer Game Fest 2022 Summary

Summer Game Fest 2022 is behind us - we saw some new titles and many previously announced games that are expected to be released in the coming months. The most important news from today's event can be found below.

Original message

There are only two days left until Summer Game Fest 2022. Although yesterday the host of the event, Geoff Keighley, tempered the mood before the event by announcing that it will focus on the already announced games, the fact is that - in the absence of E3 - SGF22 will probably be the most important (next to Xbox & Bethesda Showcase) gaming event of June and the people are hungry for big announcement, expecting something more than "a herd of indies".

It's doubtful that there will be any big surprises, but there will be plenty of small ones. What do we know for sure about Summer Game Fest 2022? What do the rumors point to? Here is a brief summary.

WHERE AND WHEN TO WATCH?

One thing is undisputable, namely the date of the discussed event. It will take place June 9, 2022 (Thursday) at 11 am PT and will last 1.5-2 hours. The show will be available on YouTube (link below) and Twitch.

Summer Game Fest 2022 - Confirmed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

You already know about the gameplay presentation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 if you've been keeping up with our news.

Gotham Knights

What you may not know is that we will also see a gameplay from Gotham Knights. The previous one made a good impression, so it seems that there is a lot to look forward to. The game's release date is October 25.

Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course

However, I personally look more to the long-announced DLC for Cuphead. Geoff Keighley has confirmed that The Delicious Last Course is coming out on June 30, but I'll believe it when I see it.

The Callisto Protocol

We'll have to wait much longer for a new horror from the creators of Dead Space, which isn't due out until December. The footage revealed so far is juicy and dense, but it's hard to say whether the gameplay will be as attractive. In a way we will find out on Thursday, because it has been confirmed that a gameplay from The Callisto Protocol will be shown.

Planet of Lana

Same thing goes for - announcementhere - the hand-drawn platformer by studio Wishfully, which was announced at the previous edition of Summer Game Fest. As Planet of Lana is heading to PC, XOne, and XSX/S in 2022, you can expect an exact release date for the title to be announced as well.

Nightingale

Analogous assurance were posted in the case of a promising survival FPP game Nightingale. The difference is that at most we will learn the date of release in early access - the proper launch will happen not earlier than 2023.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

For sure we will also see the brutal gameplay from the shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, which will be released on September 13 on PC and XSX/S (it will also be available in the PC/Xbox Game Pass service).

New game from StarCraft 2 co-creators

In addition, we will see the first presentation of the new real-time strategy game from Frost Giant - founded in 2020 by the co-creators of StarCraft 2. You can never have too many good games of this type.

Summer Game Fest 2022 - Rumors and Leaks

Hollow Knight: Silksong

This time I think I'm not asking too much for hoping to seeing anything from the awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong. Geoff Keighley's post on Twitter and a response from Matthew Griffin from Team Cherry - for whom the coronavirus pandemic has become significant problem in his work on the game - is cause for much optimism. Though I don't know if it's worth counting on a 2022 release.

Marvel's Midnight Suns

More details - including the release date - have leaked out about Marvel's Midnight Suns. If you missed them, I refer you to this news. Extensive gameplay from last year made a big impression, so let's hope that the next (for now presumed) presentation will not disappoint the expectations.

Saints Row

There are many indications that at Summer Game Fest 2022 we will also see the reboot of Saints Row. The premiere is coming soon, on August 25. The first impressions of the industry media were quite good, so fans of the series are not likely to be disappointed. What's more, during the event on Thursday we are to see an announcement of the free game Boss Factory, associated with this production - which will supposedly be released on the same day (June 9).

Silent Hill 2 Remake

Slightly less certain seems the announcement of the remake of Silent Hill 2 - allegedly created by Bloober Team. What speaks for it is the fact that the developer is on the official list of entities whose games we will see at Summer Game Fest 2022 (link below). It may be, of course, about the presentation of of the third Layers of Fear - the recent posts on the devs' Twitter refer to this game - but it is not said that the team will not show two productions.

Summer Game Fest 2022 - Other Picks

The list linked above, enables us to make some additional assumptions. However, this is already speculation, so let's limit ourselves to just the titles. Unfortunately, the list lacks, among others, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but remember - hope dies last.

UPDATE

In addition to the following, you can also expect to see the announcement of new updates for Genshin Impact or Fortnite.
