Baldur's Gate 3: The Hidden Harpers Chest puzzle

The secret Harper's Cache and the scuffed rock leading to it is one of the first secrets you'll encounter in Baldur's Gate 3. Though a bit confusing, the puzzle will reward you with some special treasure which should come in handy in the early game.

To reach the cache, go to the shore you've started the game on. The suspicious rock is on a small rocky cliff you can easily reach by going south from the runic circle by one of the main roads at Roadside Cliffs. You'll need to jump to the cliff.

As you approach the edge, your party will make an automatic Nature check. The DC is low, so it's likely at least one of them will pass. If they don't, you'll need to load your most recent save and try again.

Passing the test will let you interact with the scuffed stone. You need high Strength to move it. If none of your characters are strong enough, you could recruit Karlach the Barbarian. You'll learn more about her on this page. Left click on the stone, hold down the button and get it out of the way.

Under the boulder is a small chest, hiding some useful treasure and the Harper's Map with clues on how to reach the cache.

How to reach the Harper's Cache?

Reading the instruction makes a marker appear on your map, showing the treasure. Follow the path to the north until you reach a small rocky ledge.

Jump up there and go uphill. After some time you'll spot a wooden structure marking the cache. There are several barrels scattered around the campsite, and there's a small chest on the wooden platform. Remember to loot the skeleton on the ground, as it holds a necklace, granting its wearer access to a useful cantrip.
