Cyberpunk 2077: How to use fast travel?
This guide page explains how to unlock fast travel in Cyberpunk 2077. You will learn what are the requirements to use fast travel and whether fast travel is free. In addition, we explain how the subway works and how to get the NCART City Pass necessary to travel on subway cars.
How to unlock fast travel points?
- The fast travel mechanics in Cyberpunk 2077 are not overly complicated. This feature can be very helpful if, for example, you need to reach a remote area of the city and do not want to waste time traveling there by car or going on foot.
- As you explore Night City, you may discover the so-called dataterms - fast travel points. They have blue icons on the Night City map and you will recognize them by their large green holograms. When you arrive at any of these locations, interact with the station to "order" fast travel.
The destination can only be any of the other discovered fast travel points. You cannot move to whatever marker on the map you have. Luckily, the fast travel points are densely packed on the map of the Night City and you never have to waste a lot of time getting to the actual destination.
The fast travel in the game is free, although it can be blocked in certain situations. This will happen if:
- You are currently completing an important quest that cannot be interrupted.
- You are in combat - move away from the enemies to end the battle or finish them off first.
- The hero is wanted by the police - you have to lose the heat first (reduce the number of wanted level shown as stars to zero).
How to travel by subway?
- The use of the subway was among the promises made by the developers of Cyberpunk 2077 during the production, but was not included on release. Subway stations appeared with one of the updates and are now available on the Night City map.
- Advance in the main storyline to start The Big Sleep Main Job. You should have received a message from NCART customer service along with an NCART City Pass . It will allow unlimited and free subway travel until the end of the game.
- All subway stations will automatically appear on the Night City map. They have distinctive purple icons.
When you reach the gate at the subway station, you have 2 options:
- Fast travel - It is instant and is the better option. You can choose any dataterm or other subway station on the Night City map.
- Subway travel - Treat this more like an attraction and an opportunity to explore the city. You can look around the cart and perform simple interactions as you travel to your chosen station.
