Cyberpunk 2077: What types of Cars will I find in the game?
The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is a huge metropolis, but fortunately, you can get around using a variety of means of transportation. On this guide page, we explain what vehicles and other means of transport are available in the game. You'll also learn whether you can fly over Night City and under what rules the garage, where V's vehicles are stored operates. In addition, we suggest how to turn on the autonomous driving mode (AutoDrive).

What are the main categories of the vehicles?
The two main categories of "playable" vehicles in the game are cars and motorcycles.
- In the case of cars, you have access to a very large variety of them. You can drive small cars, hatchbacks, sedans, pick-ups, sports cars, SUVs, vans, cars converted to travel the badlands, or luxury limousines.
- Almost all the vehicles in the game are fictional, although their designs may to some extent refer to real vehicles (e.g. Cadillacs). The only exception to this rule is Porsche 911. The game features the classic 930 generation of this extremely popular sports car. You can get the coupe version in Johnny Silverhand's storyline; the convertible version can be purchased.
- In Cyberpunk 2077, you can also drive commercial vehicles, which primarily include vans and trucks. These vehicles are not very useful and you will probably be limited to using them in missions where they become a mandatory means of transportation.
- As for motorcycles, there is an informal division into city and enduro motorcycles. What's interesting in this case is that the real motorcycle brand Arch, co-owned by Keanu Reeves, is present in the game. The authors cooperated with the Arch to prepare several futuristic-looking motorcycles, which can be treated as visions of how Arch machines could look like in a few decades.
How to get new vehicles?
Cyberpunk 2077 has the option to permanently add new vehicles to V's garage. You can do this in two ways:
- Buy vehicles with credits - The easiest way to do this is to use a computer (for example in V's apartment) and go to the Autofixer website. There you can find cars for sale, with some initially unavailable and may require, for example, developing V's Street Cred. Also expect that the best machines can cost more than 100,000 credits.
- Receive vehicles for free - They can be rewards for completing selected main and side missions, or be found in the game world. You can find a summary of them on the All free vehicles page.
You can also steal cars and this is especially helpful in the early stages of the game, before you buy or get better cars. We described this topic in more detail on the page How to buy or steal a car?.
Can you lose your car?
- The risk of losing a vehicle only arises if it does not belong to V. If you move away from such a car, start some larger mission in the meantime or use a fast travel, you may lose it.
- This problem does not apply to vehicles owned by the hero. Vehicles you own can be summoned to you on demand. When you summon a car, it will automatically pull up to V and start flashing on the mini-map.
V's vehicle can get damaged. If that happens, you must wait a few minutes until the vehicle becomes available for summoning again. In the meantime, choose others from the list of owned cars.
Can flying machines be used?
- You can't fly freely around the game world with AV machines. You can, however, fly as a passenger during specific story quests. The first chance to fly over Night City appears during the prologue for the Corp life path.
Are there boats?
- Unfortunately, the developers have not provided an option to use boats. However, you can swim and dive, giving you the chance to find unique places and loot underwater.
- One of the few opportunities to be on board a boat is the quest Boat Drinks associated with Kerry. Unfortunately, you won't be able to steer the luxury yacht during the meeting with V's ally.
Is there public transportation?
- Some time after the release of Cyberpunk 2077, the game received a fully functional subway network - you can visit subway stations and use the subway for fast travel. The game also allows you to optionally look around while traveling on a subway car, although you can also skip this step and choose instant fast travel.
Unlocking access to the subway is described in more detail on the page How does fast travel work?.
- Night City has a network of autonomous Delamain cabs. The main character will automatically use them in selected story missions, becoming a passenger on the way to a quest location.
- There are also a series of optional quests associated with the Delamain AI and the last one is called Don't Lose Your Mind. As a reward for helping the artificial intelligence, you will get access to Delamain No. 21. It will be added to the list of owned vehicles (regardless of the important choice made at the end of Delamain's storyline).
How does AutoDrive work?
- The 2.3 update to Cyberpunk 2077 allows the use of AutoDrive, i.e. an auto-pilot that can take V to a selected location. This option works for all vehicles in the game, not just Delamain cabs.
- Start by marking your destination on the world map. The steering wheel icon (above image) should light up in the lower left corner and pressing the appropriate button (L3 on the controller) will start autonomous ride to your destination.
