In Cyberpunk 2077, you can create various interesting builds, and one of the more obvious ones is a tech - this character focuses on using Tech weapons. This page in the guide provides tips on how to spend attribute and perk points, how to properly use Tech weapons, and what cyberware is the most useful for a tech.

The most important assumptions of the tech build

The discussed build is entirely based on Tech weapons, which is one of the most interesting types of firearms available in Cyberpunk 2077. It is a kinetic weapon that shoots powerful projectiles driven by electromagnetic pulses. Tech weapons have a long range and can pierce through various types of surfaces, such as walls or containers. This can make it very easy to get rid of enemies hiding behind various obstacles.

Tech build has no clear disadvantages, although you should be aware that with the exception of the Ping hack your character will not become a hacker. In addition, you may need to carry at least 2 different types of Tech weapons and switch between them from time to time.

Character creation

When creating a character Cyberpunk 2077 you get 7 points which you have to distribute among five attributes. Unfortunately, you can't allocate them all to one favorite attribute, because the limit in the creator has been set to 6. Here are our suggestions for initial attribute values:

  1. Technical Ability - 6 points
  2. Cool - 4 points
  3. Reflexes - 6 points

Key attributes

The most important attributes associated with the tech build are:

  1. Technical Ability: this attribute will increase the performance of Tech weapons, improve cyberware stats, grant additional armor points (2 per level), and provide earlier access to useful perks for the tech.
  2. Reflexes: this attribute will improve the chances of critical hits (0.5% per level), improve your mobility and increase the efficiency of using Tech weapons.

We recommend developing Technical Ability and Reflexes to a maximum of 20 points. You should also have Body and Cool attributes at a sufficient level. In our opinion the former is more important, because you will get various bonuses to your health bar and its regeneration. Intelligence only needs to be developed to 4 points to have access to the Ping hack. We don't recommend investing more points in this attribute.

Obtaining the above attribute values will become possible if you have access to the Phantom Liberty expansion - it increases the experience level limit, meaning you can level up your V to level 60.

Key perks

For all the perks listed below, do not forget about the associated smaller perks as well. They can, for example, improve the performance of a particular perk or grant it an additional feature.

You should unlock the most perks on the Technical Ability tree, which is essential to the tech build. The perks we recommend are:

  1. Glutton for War - killing enemies restores healing items and grenades faster.
  2. All Things Cyber - bonuses to additional cyberware stats, reduced cost of selected cyberware types.
  3. License to Chrome - further bonuses to cyberware stats, 40 armor points, a new skeleton cyberware slot and bonuses to cyberware from this group.
  4. Bolt - faster charging of Tech weapons and dealing more damage with charged attacks, firing a special projectile that deals high damage and ignores 50% shield penetration.
  5. Chain Lightning - Bolt can additionally deal electrical damage and shock nearby enemies.
  6. Built Different - unlocking this perk will provide the ability to purchase a very useful Cellular Adapter cyberware from ripperdocs.

Dash and Air Dash on the Reflexes tree are especially worth choosing , as they will improve V's mobility and make it easier to dodge enemy attacks.

The perks Ready, Rested, Reloaded and Sharpshooter, which are linked to the use of assault rifles and submachine guns, can also be useful. The bonuses offered relate to, for example, stamina consumption, reloading and aiming speed or better weapon handling.

On the Body tree, an important perk to acquire is Adrenaline Rush. This perk can provide bonuses to health and its regeneration speed, as well as the use of the titular mode, in which adrenaline works as an additional health bar.

Main weapon

The main weapon in the proposed build should be one of the Tech rifles. Make sure the weapon offers the highest possible charge multiplier and damage multiplier at headshot. An additional bonus to the critical hit chance is important too. Instead of using regular weapons, you should get one of the iconic tech rifles. Our suggestions are:

  1. Widow Maker - this is a precision rifle that you can pick up from Nash in the Ghost Town story mission (another opportunity will also appear later).
  2. M-179E Achilles - a precision rifle that you can find on a corpse of selected elite snipers, or you can purchase it from one of the gun stores.

Alternatively, you can opt for a Tech weapon with a higher rate of fire. In this case, the Raiju submachine gun, obtainable in the Phantom of Liberty expansion, may be an interesting option. It is carried by mini-boss Ross Ulmer encountered during one of the optional criminal activities in the Dogtown district.

Best cyberware and Ping quickhack

One of the recommended Operating Systems for the tech build is the Tetratronic Rippler Mk.5 (or a lower version until you acquire the "top" one).

You can make quite clever use of one of Rippler's unique features, namely to activate the undetectable Hack quickhack and receive a bonus to weapon damage thanks to it.

As for the other categories, we recommend:

  1. Kiroshi "Clairvoyant" Optics from the Face category - The cyberware can, when activating the scanner, highlight enemies and make them visible for another minute. You also get 10x optical zoom.
  2. Shock Absorber from the Hands category - It can reduce recoil by 20% when firing ranged weapons.
  3. Feedback Circuit from the Circulatory System category - It can regenerate health by using charged shots done with Tech weapons.
  4. Reinforced Tendons from the Legs category - They allow you to perform double jumps.
  5. Mechatronic Core from the Frontal Cortex category - It can, e.g. increase the damage inflicted on drones, mechs, robots and turrets. In addition, developing Technical Ability enhances armor.
  6. Projectile Launch System from the Arms category - Rockets deal high physical damage which can be further enhanced by charging the shot.
  7. Para Bellum from the Skeleton category - You will receive a bonus to armor (it increases as you develop Technical Ability).
  8. Tyrosine Injector from the Nervous System category - It gives you a bonus to takedowns, as well as to headshots and damage dealt to weak points.
  9. Cellular Adapter from the Integumentary System category - You must first unlock the Built Different perk from the Technical Ability tree. You will get various useful passive stat bonuses, including increased damage from Tech weapons or increased resistance to blast damage.

Modifications

When selecting weapon modifications, we have three suggestions: Crunch, Pacifier and Penetrator - Cyberpunk 2077: Tech Engineer best build - Cyberpunk 2077: Builds - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

How to play as a tech? - general tips

8 - Cyberpunk 2077: Tech Engineer best build - Cyberpunk 2077: Builds - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. It's a good idea to start every confrontation by activating the Ping hack, which will allow you to identify the positions of your opponents so you can attack them using Tech weapons.
  2. Try to fire charged shots when using Tech weapons as often as possible. After charging your weapon, try to shoot the enemy in the head or weak spot to deal the most damage possible.
  3. Remember that projectiles shot from Tech weapons pierce through obstacles, so you can shoot down opponents hiding behind, e.g. a container or a wall.
  4. It's worth switching between 2 different categories of Tech weapons. This will prevent you from running out of ammunition and suddenly finding yourself in an uncomfortable situation.
