Cyberpunk 2077: Traders Cyberpunk 2077 guide, walkthrough

Last update: 12 January 2021

On this page of the Cyberpunk 2077 guide, you will find the most important information about traders. You will learn what are the main types of stores in the game, how to sell and buy goods, and how to buy items marked in red.

Night City merchants - key information

Stores in Cyberpunk 2077 are marked with white icons - Cyberpunk 2077: Traders - Basics - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

Stores in Cyberpunk 2077 are marked with white icons. The shape of the icon indicates the type of shop. The main types of stores:

  1. Clothes - Buy clothes/armor for V as well as modifications (can be placed in the items' slots).
  2. Ripperdoc - This is the most important type of shop. At a ripperdoc, you can buy and install cyberware that can make V much stronger, unlock new features and attacks. Additionally, you can go to a separate trade tab where you can find, e.g. cyberware modifications.
  3. Netrunner - This store is important if your V specializes in hacking. Netrunners sell mainly different types of hacks, which you can use to hack enemies and devices. You can also buy hacks and quickhack components.
  4. Weapons store - This is another important type of store. Besides weapons, you can also purchase weapon modifications (for those types that have free slots), accessories for weapons (sights, barrels), schematics, and ammunition.
  5. Melee weapons store - These merchants specialize in blunt weapons and blades - the two types of melee weapons in the game.
  6. Medpoint - Here, you can buy healing consumables or items that can strengthen V, such as health and stamina boosters. Medpoints can also sell you, e.g. crafting schemes.
  7. Food - This is a less important type of traders. Food can be an alternative way of healing V or getting buffs.
  8. Bar - This category is not very important either. Alcohols, besides getting you drunk, offer a variety of temporary changes in statistics.
  9. Junk store - You can find various items classified as junk, such as vinyl or guitars.
  10. Sex shop - You can find them in locations with sex workers. They offer a variety of erotic gadgets, although these items have no practical use.

The game adds new icons of merchants and stores to the map as you travel through Night City and The Badlands. Don't worry when you see that some of the districts don't have any store icons. There are many stores of the same type in different parts of Night City. You will not have to travel far to visit, for example, a weapons store or a ripperdoc.

  1. The prices of the same goods are not universal across all traders. This can be affected by the rarity level of the item (e.g. uncommon or rare), the trader's attitude to V or your current Street Cred level. Increasing V's reputation can also lower prices for goods that are already available. If you are not sure that you are overpaying for a specific item (e.g. a cyberware bought form a ripperdoc) then check the offer of other traders from the same category.
  2. You can help or gain the favor of some of the traders by completing related quests or events. You can be rewarded with, e.g. a permanent discount.
  3. At first, you cannot buy more implants from a ripperdoc named Viktor. This is because V must first pay off the debt of 21,000 credits they got at the beginning of the game (picture above). If you don't want to spend so much money in the early stages of the game, just visit other ripperdocs in the area to get new implants.
  4. The trader's offer is scaled to V's current level. The same type of item can have different statistics and/or different rarity if you visit a trader at, e.g. level 2 and then 20.
  5. Their assortment may change but this only applies to the rarer types of items. Basic goods (ammunition, medicines, etc.) are always available. By default, the offer is changed every two nights. Unfortunately, you will not receive any message about that.
  6. You can sell all your equipment to traders. You don't have to go to a weapons dealer to sell firearms. You can sell them to any type of trader. Crazy Science perk from the Crafting skill tree lets you sell items you have crafted yourself for a better price.

Items marked red - what does this mean?

You may notice that some items offered by traders are marked in red - Cyberpunk 2077: Traders - Basics - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

You may notice that some items offered by traders are marked in red. This informs you that the item cannot be used or purchased. There are three reasons for that:

  1. The item costs more Euro-dollars than you have at that moment. You have to go back to the trader with more Euro-credits or try to sell some unnecessary stuff from your inventory (if you are short of credits).
  2. The item requires a higher experience level. You can still buy this item, but you won't be able to use it.
  3. The item is sold only to characters with the required Street Cred level. You need to level up your Street Cred.
