Our guide also includes an interactive map of the Trosky region.

How to reach the Kuttenberg region?

Kuttenberg is the second, larger region in the game. You can't explore it from the very beginning of the game. You must first advance sufficiently in the main story of the first region, Trosky.

The journey to the second region will take place at the end of the main quest, Storm, after escaping from Trosky Castle and reaching the cart parked in the forest. Henry, Katherine, and the wounded Jan Zizka will embark on the journey. Upon reaching the new land, you will automatically start its first main quest - The Sword and the Quill. You must complete the introduction by reaching Suchdol to eventually unlock free exploration of the Kuttenberg region.

Kuttenberg

This is the largest location on the map of the second region and also the largest city in the game. You will find it on the eastern edge of the map.

In Kuttenberg, you can start main and side quests, find various traders, and pay for services. Fast travel points are also available, which, once discovered, will allow you to teleport to different parts of the city.

Suchdol

This is the first village you will reach in this region. It also contains a small enclosed castle, where Henry and Katherine will be welcomed after a long journey from the Trosky region. You can move freely around the publicly accessible areas of the castle. In the village, you will find, among others, traders and quest givers.

Sigismund's Camp

This is a large camp available in the second region. Henry will not be allowed in by default, but you can pay the guards 500 groschen or start one of the side tasks associated with the camp to invoke the right of entry.

In the camp you will find important people associated with various quests, as well as various traders. Access to some tents or entire parts of the camp is guarded meaning you will have to avoid detection.

Villages in the Kuttenberg region

In the second region of the game, you can reach smaller and larger villages scattered all over the map. These are:

  1. Devil's Den - This is one of the first locations visited. There you will find an inn, which Henry will eventually be able to use for free.
  2. Wysoka;
  3. Raborsch;
  4. Bohunowitz;
  5. Grund;
  6. Horschan;
  7. Opatowitz - a restricted location where Henry can be stopped and attacked;
  8. Bylany;
  9. Maleshov - there is a fortress next to the village, which is initially inaccessible;
  10. Pschitoky;
  11. Miskowitz;
  12. Old Kutna.

Caravan

After completing a few of the main quests in the Kuttenberg region, you will unlock a caravan - it is located at the western edge of the map.

You can pay 200 groschen to return to the Trosky region by caravan - this will allow you to continue exploring it and continue with interrupted quests. A caravan will also appear in Trosky, allowing you to travel in both directions.

Fast travel points

While exploring the Kuttenberg region, you can discover additional fast travel points - you get a message and a fast travel icon will appear on your map. More information about the fast travel on the All fast travel points page.

Fast travel is not immediate though. A pawn symbolizing Henry will appear on the Kuttenberg map. The journey can take several hours in the game world and you may experience random events along the way (e.g. bandit attack, meeting of a wanderer.

Horse traders

In the stables, you can also buy other mounts and their equipment, as well as clean your horse. Some traders will also help you make a stolen mount yours. If you want to learn more about horses in KCD 2, check out our list of the best horses.

On the world map, there are also Saddlers, whose services are also related to your horse. Saddlers can also repair Henry's equipment (including shoes).

Quests and small tasks

In the Kuttenberg region you can do:

  1. Main quests - These are quests related to the main storyline. They usually have a number of mission objectives and the game may present you with choices or allow you to deal with them in different order.
  2. Side quests - These are more extensive side missions. You can receive them as you progress in the main storyline or by reaching side quest markers on the map.
  3. Minor tasks - These are small quests with a separate tab in the journal.

Separate markers on our interactive map show quest objectives (e.g. place to find in a given area) and NPCs (characters you need to meet in tasks).

Merchants

The Kuttenberg region has merchants and various services you can pay for. The largest concentration of traders is in Kuttenberg, but you will also find them in the villages. The markers on our map will lead you to:

  1. gunmaker - a unique merchant in the city who repairs and sells firearms;
  2. traders;
  3. blacksmiths (you can also sharpen or forge weapons);
  4. tailors;
  5. apothecaries;
  6. herbalists;
  7. tanners;
  8. bowyers;
  9. butchers;
  10. grocers;
  11. scribes;
  12. cobblers;
  13. bakers;
  14. armourers;
  15. weaponsmiths.

Skill teachers

There are many skill teachers in the Kuttenberg region. Some of them are immediately available to you, while others will be unlocked, for example, only after completing the quests associated with them. The teacher icon appears in the game only after approaching that NPC, but you can easily use the markers from our interactive map. You can find more about teachers on the Best skill teachers page.

A skill teacher can specialize in 1 or several skills. You have to pay for the training - the more advanced it is, the more expensive the lesson will be.

Interesting places

In the Kuttenberg region you can discover:

  1. Interesting locations - these are various places (e.g. abandoned houses, ruins), in which you may find loot.
  2. Camps - depending on the camp, it may be empty, occupied by friendly NPCs, or taken over by enemies.
  3. Nests - you can knock them down with ranged weapons and collect the loot that was in the nest.
  4. Hunting spots - you can hunt various species of wild game (note - this is seen as a crime in the game world!).
  5. Indulgence chests - you can transfer gold and in return improve Henry's reputation in a given location.

Taverns and lodgings

On the map of the second region, there are several different inns (e.g. in Devil's Den, on the main road to the city and in the town of Kuttenberg). Their most important feature is the option to rent a room with a bed - we recommend paying for this room permanently, so you always have the possibility to return to a place where you can rest and also save the game.

You can also visit Taverns - you can buy food there and rent a place to rest. You will also find other beds in the game world, but they may be of lower quality and not allow you to save progress.

Treasure maps and graves

Treasure maps are unique collectibles that you may come across while searching chests or the pockets of other characters. You can bring up a full-screen map - drawings on it will lead you to the treasure.

You need a shovel to dig up treasures. This item will also allow you to dig up graves, in which, apart from the bodies of the deceased, you may find various treasures.

Shrines

When exploring the map of the Kuttenberg region you may find subsequent Shrines - they are primarily located along paved roads and at some crossroads. After approaching such a place, its icon will be added to your map.

Arenas and archery ranges

In the second region of the game, you can find places to train Henry in unarmed combat (arenas) or ranged combat (archery ranges). Some of these locations offer extra attractions, such as free sparring or the option to participate in a shooting tournament.

Bones

The second region of the game world has new dice players - it's one of the most important additional activities in the game. You can discover them by visiting taverns, inns, and larger camps.

Before starting a dice game, we recommend saving your progress and stocking up on unique varieties of dice, which can increase your chances of winning. You can find more about the game itself on the How to play dice? page.

Smokehouses and alchemy benches

Alchemy benches will allow you to brew potions. Using these stations is free, but you must have alchemical ingredients with you and have their recipes.

Smokehouses allow you to smoke food. This will increase their nutritional value and keep them in good condition for longer.

Drying Racks allow for drying food and herbs. This may extend their shelf life. Using them is free, but some may be located in guarded areas.

Bathhouses

Bathhouses allow you to pay for a bath and for, e.g. additional company, regenerating Henry's health, or washing clothes. The game is saved when paying for the service at a bathhouse.

You can also search for Laundries - they are usually located near streams and ponds. You can wash yourselves and do the laundry (you need soap for this).

Barber

Our map shows the location of the barber's tent. You can pay him to get a new hairstyle, or facial hair, e.g. a beard, mustache or stubble. We discussed this topic comprehensively on the FAQ page How to change a hairstyle?.
