How to unlock the Trosky region?
Trosky is the first of the two main regions in the game. You will encounter this map for the first time after playing a short introduction involving the castle siege.
The beginning of the first visit to Trosky is very linear and you will perform subsequent main tasks without any possibility of free exploration. The Trosky exploration will be unlocked only after starting the main quest Wedding Crashers.
Trosky Castle
This is the location where Henry and Hans Capon will head to after completing the main quest Fortuna.
Initially, the heroes will not be allowed into the castle - instead, you will have to deal with the Laboratores and Wedding Crashers quests first.
Troskowitz
This is the first larger village you will visit as part of the main storyline. Henry and Hans Capon will end up in a local tavern after a failed attempt to enter Trosky Castle.
You must first complete the Laboratory main quest, which will end with a fight and a temporary arrest. After starting the Wedding Crashers quest, you will unlock free exploration of Troskowitz and the entire Trosky region.
In the village of Troskowitz, you can find various merchants and people offering different types of services. You need to walk around the main areas of the village for the icons of new NPCs and activities to appear on your map.
Important locations in Trosky
The Trosky region, in addition to Troskowitz and Trosky Castle, will also allow you to visit several villages and larger camps. These include the following:
- Semine - In this village, you will find a horse stud; you can also get back the horse from the prologue here.
- Nomads' Camp - In the camp, you will meet friendly NPCs. This is also a good location to pick up quests and train in the arena.
- Nebakov Mill and Nebakov Fortress - The fortress is initially closed. You will visit it later during the main storyline.
- Zhelejov - Besides visiting the village, you can also check out the nearby Zhelejov Wagoners' Inn.
- Tachov - In the village, you can, e.g. do quests related to the blacksmith.
- Apollonia - These are largely uninhabited areas in the eastern part of the map. There are, among others, Hermit's Shack and bandit camps.
Fast Travel Destinations
You can travel between all the major locations in the Trosky region. First, you have to reach a fast travel point in order to unlock it. It will appear on your map as a blue icon with a yellow circle. You can learn more about fast travel destination on page All fast travel points.
Fast travel is not immediate though. A pawn symbolizing Henry will appear on the Trosky map. The journey can take several hours in the game world and you may experience random events along the way (e.g. ambush, meeting with a beggar).
Main Quests, Side Quests and Tasks
The Trosky region offers:
- Main Quests - these are quests related to the main storyline. They usually have a number of mission objectives and the game may present you with choices or allow you to deal with them in different order.
- Side Quests - these are larger side missions. You can receive them as you progress in the main storyline or by reaching side quest markers on the map.
- Tasks - these are smaller assignments with a separate tab in the journal.
Separate markers on our interactive map show Quest Objectives (e.g. item to be found in a given location) and NPCs (characters you need to talk to in tasks).
Merchants
While exploring Trosky, you may come across various merchants and NPCs offering specific services. These primarily include:
- Traders;
- Blacksmiths - you can use anvils and sharpening wheels for free;
- Tailors;
- Apothecaries;
- Herbalists;
- Tanners;
- Bowyers;
- Butchers;
- Grocers;
- Scribes;
- Cobblers.
Horse Traders
The first stud farm is in the village of Semine. That's where you'll come across the first Horse Trader as well. Speaking to him will allow you to get back the horse you lost in the prologue. Additionally, you can buy other horses and their respective gear, as well as clean your animal. If you want to learn more about horses in KCD 2, check out our list of the best horses.
On the world map, there are also Saddlers, whose services are also related to your horse. Saddlers can also repair Henry's equipment (including shoes).
Combat Arenas and Archery Ranges
These are important locations on the map. Combat Arenas provide opportunities for hand-to-hand combat training, while Archery Ranges allow for distance combat training.
In both cases, you will fight in arenas or shooting ranges prepared specifically for these trainings. You can also use them to acquire new skills and unique attacks, as well as to increase Henry's statistics from handling various types of weapons.
Skill Teachers
While roaming Trosky, you can also stumble upon various Skill Teachers. Some Teachers will be marked immediately with a marker on the map, while others have to be discovered first. Alternatively, you might have to unlock the possibility to train with them first (e.g. by completing a quest associated with them). You can find more about trainers on the Best skill trainers guide page.
Every NPC offers several different trainings related to their fields of expertise. You have to pay for the training and choose these categories where you want to improve the most.
Camps and Interesting Sites
You may also come across smaller camps located in Trosky. Depending on the location, it can be an abandoned camp, a camp inhabited by friendly NPCs or a hostile location with bandits.
Exploring Trosky can also lead to discovering Interesting Sites. These can include various locations, like battlefields, mass graves or a hunting lodge.
Taverns and Lodgings
Zhelejov Wagoners' Inn is the best location in Trosky to rent a room with a bed: we recommend paying for this room permanently, so that you have a stable place to get back to to rest and save your game progress.
The Trosky map includes Taverns as well: you can buy food there and rent a place to rest. You will also find other beds in the game world, but they may be of lower quality and not allow you to save progress.
Dice Players
The Dice mini-game is one of the main optional activities in the game. In Trosky you can come across the Dice Players as well. New locations will be marked on your map gradually.
Before starting a dice game, we recommend saving your progress and stocking up on unique types of dice, which can increase your chances of winning. You can find more about the game itself on page How to play dice?.
Romances
Our interactive map has markers for characters that have a heart icon appearing in conversations with them. This could be an opportunity to start a romance or simply to sleep with a certain person.
Shrines
You can find shrines while traveling around the Trosky region. You need to approach each of them and then the game will display a message. Most of them are by the roads and at crossroads.
Alchemy Benches and Drying Racks
Alchemy Benches will allow you to brew potions. Using these stations is free, but you must have alchemical ingredients with you and have their recipes.
Drying Racks allow for drying herbs and food. This may extend their shelf life. Using Drying Racks is free, but some of them may be in guarded places.
Bathhouses and Laundries
There are Bathhouses in the Trosky region - Henry can pay for a bath (alone or in company) as well as for washing clothes. This will remove dirt and may also heal your wounds. The game is saved when paying for the service at Bathhouse.
A simpler version is Laundries - these are places where you can bathe in a river or pond, as well as wash your clothes yourself. The latter requires a soap.
Graves and Treasure Maps
You can dig graves, but you can only do this in selected places and you need a Spade for it (available for purchase or can be found, for example, in the cemetery next to Troskowitz). After digging out a grave, you may find a corpse, loot, or a hidden stash.
A spade is also necessary when using treasure maps found in chests or when looting defeated enemies. You can check each Treasure Map in the inventory - the drawing on the map will indicate the location of the buried treasure.
