Start by getting your horse back
Pebbles, Henry's horse, disappears after the events of the prologue. However, recovering it is relatively easy, so you should do that as soon as possible. A steed will not only greatly facilitate your movement around the map, but also allow you to carry significantly more items with you.
However, remember that Pebbles is very skittish at first. Therefore, at the beginning of the game, try to avoid danger by going around it. A panicked mount can throw you off and put you in danger.
You can learn more about the horse on the page How to get a horse?.
Retrieve the dog and complete the combat training
Another important thing to deal with as soon as possible is recovering the dog - Mutt. The animal helps Henry in fights, so it's worth having him by your side. You can find more about him on the page Where is the dog (Mutt?).
Don't forget to also complete the Combat Training quest, where under the supervision of Tomcat, you will learn advanced techniques that will prove indispensable during clashes with enemies. You can find more information about where to go after the prologue on the page Where to go first?.
Collecting herbs is easy experience and money
In KCD 2, skills improve when you use them frequently. A way to level up quickly at the beginning of the game is to gather densely growing herbs and plants. This activity does not take much of your time, and the collected ingredients can be sold to a pharmacist or used in creating potions and concoctions.
Have a few sets of clothes with you
The outfit wore by Henry greatly influences what you can do and how other characters perceive you. Chainmail and armor will protect you well in battle, but clanking iron will betray your position during stealth. To maintain discretion, it's worth wearing light clothes and soft shoes. Wearing clean and elegant clothes will make NPCs perceive you better, which will make it easier for you to influence them during a conversation.
During a journey through medieval Czech Republic, it's worth having a few sets of clothes with you and changing them depending on the need (you can keep spare clothes in the horse's inventory).
Book yourselves a room at an inn
By staying overnight at a lodging (marked on the map with a tankard symbol), you can rent a room for only one day. However, if you have some spare cash, it's worth considering the option of renting a room permanently. At Lawrence's lodging, such a service costs 120 groschen, but it allows you to use the room and chest at any time of the day or night.
Renting a room permanently allows you to set up a sort of base camp, to which you can return to rest, while also saving your game. You can find more about resting on the page Where to find a bed?.
Have a few bottles of schnapps with you
KCD 2 does not allow for saving the game at any moment. To do this, you need to drink a special beverage - a Saviour Schnapps. This forces players to save the game strategically and carefully manage a finite resource. Before embarking on a longer expedition, make sure you have a sufficient amount of potions with you.
You can find more information about Schnapps and the save system on the guide page How to save the game?.
High charisma will allow to avoid some fights
When developing a character, do not neglect abilities related to charisma and speech. In tense situations, a high persuasion factor can allow you to avoid bloodshed.
Beware of random events during fast travel
A quick journey across the map is often interrupted by random events. Sometimes these are neutral encounters, for example with a wandering mercenary eager for sparring or a beggar. However, sometimes you may encounter dangerous situations such as a wolf attack or a bandit raid. You won't be able to solve every situation with escape or speech. While using a fast travel, you must be prepared for this unexpected event.
You can find more about fast travel on the page Is there fast travel?.
Don't forget about washing yourselves
Your hygiene has a direct impact on how independent characters perceive you. Covered in blood and mud, Henry will not inspire trust in his interlocutors. That's why you should regularly stop at barrels of water, which will allow you to get rid of the surface dirt.
For a more thorough cleaning, you will need to visit a bathhouse (marked on the map with a water tub icon).
Develop your sneaking and pickpocketing skills
If you appreciate resolving conflicts without the use of sharp objects, it's worth developing thieving skills. There are moments when they will be invaluable help and will allow for a smoother transition through some plot segments. Sneaking can be developed by breaking into the houses of residents who are currently working outside during the day - being in a forbidden place in sneak mode naturally increases this skill.
Pickpocketing is a little bit more difficult. At the beginning, it's worth practicing your skills on sleeping people. It's worth remembering to dress Henry in dark clothes - sneaking around in heavy, clanging armor is a bad idea.
Try to have a shovel and repair kits with you
Henry has many opportunities to find treasures hidden in graves or secret hiding places. That's why it's worth carrying a shovel with you, or placing it in the horse inventory when you get it back. Thanks to this, you have a good chance of obtaining free elixirs, jewelry, and even armor elements. Repair kits allow you to save a really substantial amount of groschen - it's worth using them after EVERY battle. A weapon or clothing that is too heavily damaged can only be repaired by the appropriate craftsman. You can also buy the appropriate repair kits for weapons, armor, or clothes from them.
More information on where to get a shovel can be found on the page How to get a shovel?.
Bandits and wolves in the forests are an easy way to train, earn money, and get a new weapon, but...
The beginning of Henry's adventures is not the easiest, so it's worth getting a set of armor as quickly as possible - even a lighter one. This can be done in a simple way, by killing the bandits who often appear on the roads. They usually appear in groups of 2-3 people. However, our protagonist may have trouble with such a number of enemies, so it's worth provoking the bandits to chase after us. Then head towards the village or a random traveler on the road. There is a considerable chance that a neutral NPC will join the fight and help you defeat the bandits.
Another way to easily gain experience is by fighting wild dogs and wolves. These beasts are not very dangerous, and fighting them is quite simple. You can read more about them on the page How to kill wolves?.
