After the events of the prologue in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Henry's dog separates from its master and disappears. To get him back, you have to complete quite a long series of quests. On this page, you will learn how to complete each task, where to look for the missing pet, and what skills Mutt can help you with.
- Where to start searching?
- How to complete the task with sheep?
- How to find the huntsman?
- How to recover the huntsman's horse?
- How to defeat a pack of wolves?
Where to start searching?
Right after starting the actual game, the quest to get back the dog will appear in your journal. Go to the place indicated on the map (western part of the region).
Examine the carcass of the roe deer lying by the river. The mission marker will update and send you to the herbalist Bozhena's house.
Talk to Bozhena. She will send you to two potential locations - a tavern and a fisherman's house. A visit to the fisherman won't give you much new information, so we recommend you go straight to the tavern.
How to complete the task with sheep?
Head to the tavern, north of Bozhena's house. Talk to the owner Lawrence when you get there. The man will direct you to the shepherd of sheep from Kopanina.
Meet with the shepherd in the northern part of the region. Siegfried will reveal to you that some time ago he saw a group of wild dogs wandering together with a pack of wolves. He will suggest you to hunt predators that threaten his animals.
Take the carrot from the shepherd. As long as you keep it in your inventory, the ram Ignatius will follow you. We will use him as bait for wolves.
Take Ignatius to the nearby hill. The ram sometimes loses its way, so go slowly.
Throw the carrot out of your inventory under the branched birch tree. When the quest objective updates, hide in the bushes on the opposite side of the road and crouch down. Use the waiting option. It will automatically be interrupted when predators appear.
As an optional mission objective, you can kill the wolves (you will receive some money for this). Return to the shepherd and report to him about the encounter with the wolves. The man will send you to a meeting with the huntsman.
How to find the huntsman?
You will find the huntsman's house in the northwestern part of the region. Once you arrive at the place, talk to Zlata.
The woman will reveal to you that her husband has not returned from the forest for a long time. She will ask you to find him. For additional information, go to the huntsman's son - Vitek. He hangs out on the training field next to the hut.
If you manage to convince the boy to help (in our case, the persuasion option worked), he will reveal to you the approximate location where you should look for the missing Vostatek.
You will find the huntsman on a tree near a small lake. Defeat the wolves, and then talk to the drunken huntsman.
While coming down from the tree, Vostatek will twist his ankle. You will have to carry him on your back and take him to the hideout located nearby.
The huntsman will guide you to the next landmarks. To activate the subsequent places, you must approach each of them. These are:
- Tree trunk;
- Anthill;
- Branched birch;
- A pile of stones and a marked tree.
Upon arrival at the camp, it turns out that the huntsman's horse has been stolen. Your next task will be to find the horse.
How to recover the huntsman's horse?
You will find Pepik by following the path. Every now and then you will come across traces of the horse and bandits (lost items, tracks, droppings). Follow the clues until you reach the bandits' camp.
To retrieve the black horse, you can try to defeat all the bandits. However, it will not be easy. The bandits have a significant numerical advantage, they are well-equipped, and additionally, there are archers among them. If you don't feel up to it, we have an alternative way to recover the horse.
Vidlak Bandits have a map that could lead you to a valuable treasure. You can find more about it on the page Where is the Vidlak treasure?.
Wait until dusk. Under the cover of night, sneak into the poorly lit camp. We recommend you to enter from the side, from the steep rocks.
Wait until the bandit patrolling the camp is far away, mount Pepik and escape quickly. If you don't delay, the bandits shouldn't catch up with you.
The sound of armor will make it easier for enemies to notice you. Before sneaking, change into lighter clothes that don't make as much noise.
Return to the huntsman's hideout and give him back his horse. Then go back to his home and talk to him there.
Grateful for the help, Vostatek will show you the place where Mutt might be.
How to defeat a pack of wolves?
Related map marker: Henry's dog location (Mutt quest) @ Trosky
Go to the place indicated by the huntsman. The carcasses of roe deer will lead you to a large cave.
During the cut-scene, Henry will reunite with the lost Mutt. However, a moment later, you will be attacked by a pack of wolves.
Escape or defeat the wolves. Mutt can help you in battle - you can give him commands. Holding down the X key will make the dog attack the opponent you are focusing on.
After defeating the predators, the quest to recover the dog will end.
