One of the most important collectibles and secrets in Ghost of Yotei are the Ainu Items - unique items connected to the culture and history of Ezo. What are Ainu items for?
- There are 30 Ainu Items scattered across the island of Ezo, and you’re free to collect them in any order you like. You can find Ainu items easily by looking for glowing flying insects - they appear when you’re close to a collectible (you’ll still need to look around the area though). Another way is to play the Ainu Song on your shamisen.
- At first, these collectibles might seem pointless, but their purpose becomes clear once you reach Husko Kotan in the Nayoro Wilds region. There, you can complete a quest to unlock Robes for Sitturaynu. From that point on, you’ll be able to find Kaeka in the village, where you can show her the items you collected. Doing this lets you upgrade your robes automatically, without using any coins or crafting materials. Additionally, you will receive a number of cosmetic items for free (e.g. new unique headgear)
#1 Makiri
Region: Yotei Grasslands
Head to Lake Kuttara in the southern area, then sail out to the small island to find the secret.
#2 Repunkur Canteen
Region: Yotei Grasslands
Tackle the small obstacle course located by the cliff wall in the southwest area of the region. It's southwest of the Ainu Asku Trader camp, where a friendly merchant may ask you to find this item for him (you can keep the canteen even after showing it to him).
#3 Raoma
Region: Yotei Grasslands
Check out the southwest coast of the region, close to the Bamboo Thicket area. The collectible is hidden beneath the rocks, so you'll need to swim to reach it.
#4 Ku-e-shinok Ring
Region: Yotei Grasslands
Head to the area north of Saito Recruitment Camp in the northern part of the region. The collectible is near the waterfall and the large tree.
#5 Ikupasuy
Region: Yotei Grasslands
Check the shallow riverbed in the northeast, close to the small camp and the pass heading to the Tokachi Range to find the collectible.
#6 Tepkeri
Region: Tokachi Range
Head to the Prospector's Camp at the western edge of the region, right by the passage leading to the Yotei Grasslands. Look for a cluster of rocks near the camp - the collectible is on top of them.
#7 Tamasai
Region: Tokachi Range
Head to the Bamboo Rock area in the southwest of the region. Climb up to the higher rocky ledge.
#8 Karop
Region: Tokachi Range
Head to the Swamp Farm in the eastern part of the region. It's inside one of the buildings.
#9 Kuwari
Region: Tokachi Range
Explore the southern part of the region, just north of Bamboo Hills. You will find a hunter and a dead deer. Talk to the man to get the collectible.
#10 Ninkari
Region: Tokachi Range
Head to the musician's camp located in the western part of the region. Complete a short quest to retrieve an item from the Mountain Pool area, just west of the camp - you’ll need to do a brief climb to reach it. After returning with your loot, you will get a new Ainu item.
#11 Kiray
Region: Ishikari Plain
Head to the cliff in the northwest of the region, close to the shamisen practice area. Right by the cliff’s edge, you’ll spot several items, including a collectible.
#12 Tesma
Region: Nayoro Wilds
Head to the campsite near the rocks in the southwest part of the region. It's near the path leading towards Niptay Mountain.
#13 Newsar-kamuy
Region: Nayoro Wilds
Explore the Nayoro Falls area in the eastern part of the region. The collectible is among the rocks and scattered trees.
#14 Marek
Region: Nayoro Wilds
Explore the Nupur River in the northern part of the region. This collectible is tucked away near the Nupur Rest Spot close to the path leading to the Teshio Ridge region.
#15 Matampus
Region: Teshio Ridge
This collectible is located in the dangerous area of Camp Inari Hideout at the northern edge of the region. It's inside one of the buildings.
#16 Sitopera
Region: Teshio Ridge
Check out the small campsite next to Sarobetsu Lake in the northwest part of the region.
#17 Menokomakir
Region: Teshio Ridge
Head to the Hunting Camp Hideout at the eastern edge of the region - you’ll reach it after completing the puzzle at Sarufutsu Lighthouse. The collectible is inside one of the buildings.
#18 Mat Loom
Region: Oshima Coast
Head to Miyama Village in the northern part of the region. The secret is in one of the eastern buildings.
#19 Lacquerware
Region: Oshima Coast
Eliminate all enemies at the Saito Artillery Outpost in the eastern part of the region. After the battle, look for the collectible next to the palisade.
#20 Niesike
Region: Oshima Coast
Head to the Hakodate Shore in the southeastern part of the region. The collectible is in a small campsite.
#21 Citarpe Cape
Region: Oshima Coast
The secret can be found in the western part of the region, east of the Blue Dye House and southwest of Benten Port. Explore the abandoned campsite.
#22 Mukkuri
Region: Yotei Grasslands
The Ainu item is located near the Reliquary of Courage in the northern part of the region. Cut down a few bamboo trees to reach it.
#23 Ninketeyep
Region: Yotei Grasslands
Travel south from the Watchtower to reach the Oshima Coast in the western part of the region. You will reach an abandoned campsite with the collectible.
#24 Tanpakuop
Region: Tokachi Range
The collectible is on the rocks in the southern part of the region, just a short distance north of the Mysterious Gate.
#25 Kuyoy
Region: Tokachi Range
The collectible hangs on a tree in the northern part of the region, just a bit east of the Suspicious Thicket.
#26 Hos
Region: Teshio Ridge
Reach Sakuru Woods in the southeastern part of the region. You must climb to the top of the large rock.
#27 Sinta
Region: Teshio Ridge
Head to the Pillar of the Fallen in the western part of the region. From there, head west and you will find a small camp among the rocks.
#28 Cispo
Region: Ishikari Plain
Look for the secret west of the first Matsumae Encampment, located in the southern part of the region near the path to the Yotei Grasslands. Reach the canyon and investigate the small camp near the river.
#29 Clothes for the Dead
Region: Ishikari Plain
Reach the burned-down hut in the western part of the region. It's located near the coast and Modaiwa Island. The collectible is in the box in front of the hut.
#30 Traded Furs
Region: Ishikari Plain
The secret is in the central part of the region, not far northwest of Wind Retreat. There's also a large waterfall nearby.
