Where are all the shrines in Ghost of Yotei? Our guide will tell you about these optional locations found on the world map. We show you the starting climbing spots to the 13 shrines. We also inform you about charms - special rewards for praying at each shrine.

What are the shrines for?

  1. There's a total of 13 shrines waiting for you on the world map, and they're one of the game's major optional activities. In each location, Atsu must complete a lengthy climb to the top by using the grappling hook, scaling ledges, jumping to distant ledges, and sliding down steep slopes. Reaching the summit of each mountain can take several minutes.
  2. After reaching the summit, you must approach the shrine and bow, i.e. swipe down on the touchpad. Each such action is rewarded with a unique, greater charm, which can be placed in one of the active slots. After obtaining the charm, you can find a spot for the grappling hook nearby to quickly return to the bottom, where you began the long climb.

#1 Mount Yotei Shrine

Region: Yotei Grasslands

You can begin your climb at the western end of the region. At some point, the action will move to the Mount Yotei summit. Besides the shrine itself, Atsu can find other activities and collectibles. We've listed them on a separate page - How to climb Mount Yotei?.

Rewards: Mother's Charm (dealing increased damage with arrows) and Father's Charm (regenerating your health bar with Perfect Parries).

#2 Blooming Ridge Shrine

Region: Yotei Grasslands

The climb begins in the eastern end of the region, near the pass leading to the Tokachi Range region. You have to squeeze between the rocks (see the picture).

Reward: Charm of Amenowakahiko (chance to recover Spirit points with headshots).

#3 Fall's Rest Shrine

Region: Yotei Grasslands

The starting point for the climb is the southeastern part of the region. In the same area you can also meet a friendly monk (talking to him is optional).

Reward: Charm of Kanayago (collect more metals and blackpowder - this can speed up upgrading Atsu's equipment).

#4 Amber Respite Shrine

Region: Tokachi Range

The climb begins in the northwestern part of the region, near the large waterfall.

Reward: Charm of Masakado (Onryo's Will can "resurrect" Atsu with a full health bar).

In the same location, you can also complete the optional quest A Flower For Your Thoughts - we discussed it on a separate page Where are the blue flowers of forgiveness?.

#5 Faithful Leap Shrine

Region: Tokachi Range

The starting point for the climb is the eastern part of the region. During the climb, you will eventually move to a separate area in the mountains further east of the Tokachi Range.

Reward: Charm of Futsunushi (easier parries, perfect parries, and perfect dodges - this can be very useful when using the Bounty Master Armor).

#6 Risen Fog Shrine

Region: Tokachi Range

The shrine is on the Great Lake, which connects the Tokachi Range and Nayoro Wilds regions. You must start climbing near the ferry dock in the southern part of the lake and then reach successive ledges above the water.

Reward: Charm of Kibitsuhiko (headshots with a bow when using Concentration can extend its duration).

#7 Sun's Peak Shrine

Region: Ishikari Plain

The climbing point is on the rocks by the cliff in the southwestern part of the region, near the fishing village.

Reward: Charm of Izanagi (health points regenerate with assassinations - a good bonus if you prefer stealth).

#8 Winding Tears Shrine

Region: Ishikari Plain

The starting point for the climb is the eastern edge of the region.

Reward: Charm of Homusubi (increased fire damage, e.g. from flaming arrows or Atsu's ignited melee weapon).

#9 Azure Wind Shrine

Region: Ishikari Plain

This particular shrine is a unique case because you cannot reach it during free exploration of the northern part of the region - you will encounter a high ledge that Atsu will not be able to jump to. You'll visit this location during the main storyline, in one of the quests related to the Oni boss. The heroine will then visit this location with another character and be able to pull herself up (image above).

Reward: Charm of Hachiman (increases the Standoff Streak by 1, we also suggest unlocking the Standoff Streak skill separately and increasing the limit by a total of 2).

#10 Patient Frost Shrine

Region: Nayoro Wilds

The spot where you can climb is in the western part of the region, northwest of Husko Kotan.

Reward: Charm of Yamatotakeru (regenerates Spirit by killing or disarming enemies with thrown weapons).

#11 Enduring Hold Shrine

Region: Teshio Ridge

The climbing location is in the central part of the region, in a snowy area where the Hakodake Mountains are located.

Reward: Charm of Masaka (regenerates health when using smoke bombs).

#12 Chilled Peak Shrine

Region: Teshio Ridge

The climb begins in the northwest part of the region. Atsu will eventually move to a separate area further north.

Reward: Charm of Sukunahikona (passive auto health regeneration between fights - you won't have to drink sake as often).

In the same location, upon reaching the top, you can find an additional path that leads to a Reliquary of Compassion.

#13 Budding Grace Shrine

Region: Oshima Coast

The climbing location is at the southeast end of the region.

Reward: Charm of Takemikazuchi (strengthens the Heavenly Slash special attack for the single katana).
