Ishikari Castle is a massive fortress in Ghost of Yotei, which you will encounter in the early stages of the game, in the Ishikari Plain region. Although it's a crucial location for the story and worth exploring, access to it is initially blocked. On this guide page, we've described how to get to Ishikari Castle and whether it's available for free exploration.

How to enter Ishikari Castle?

Ishikari Castle is not a location open for free exploration. As the headquarters of Oni, one of the members of the Yotei Six, it's an area accessible only during story events. While you can approach Ishikari Castle during free exploration and even fight the guards in front of it, you can't enter – the main gate is locked and cannot be opened.

You'll first visit Ishikari Castle during the Belly of the Beast main quest. During this quest, you'll have the opportunity to infiltrate the castle, both undercover and stealthily. After completing the quest, the castle will remain inaccessible - you will need to progress through the Ishikari Plain storyline before you can visit it again. The second and final time you will enter the castle is during The Tale of the Oni main quest, the last mission in the Ishikari Plain region.
