Ghost of Yotei: How to unlock Ghost Stance and how does the special attack work?
Ghost stance is the name of Atsu's powerful special attack from the Ghost of Yotei game. The description from our guide tells you how to access the Ghost Stance, as well as how to renew this special attack for reactivation.

What is Ghost Stance?
- Ghost Stance is Atsu's most powerful special attack. Activating it (L3 and R3 - press both analog sticks) allows you to kill several regular enemies in a row, leaving them unable to defend themselves. This action can be a great survival tool when fighting larger groups of enemies.
How to unlock the special attack?
- Unfortunately, unlike most other skills, you can't purchase Ghost Stance with a skill point. Instead, you need to progress through the main story and reach the final region, Oshima Coast.
- On the coast, the heroine will hunt Dragon and Spider – members of the Yotei Six. One of the main quests in this region takes place in Tamura Estate, which must be infiltrated. Ghost Stance becomes available after reaching the building where the Spider is. The game allows you to test its effects on the boss before facing the Spider.
How to recharge Ghost Stance?
- From the moment you gain access to the ability, you must charge up your killstreak to activate Ghost Stance. You can check its status by looking at the meter in the lower right corner of the screen, which will glow red once charged (example in the image).
- The meter charges by killing enemies without taking damage, and each kill counts as one of the six required points to activate the special attack. If an enemy attack hits you, the meter resets, and you must restart your killstreak. Choose the weakest enemies and focus on dodging, especially if enemies use ranged or color-coded attacks. You don't have to rush to fill the meter - you can carefully select easy targets.
- Instead of Ghost Stance, you can also activate Onryo's Howl, which requires 4 kills in a series (instead of 6). However, this is a much less effective special attack, whose unique feature is inflicting fear on enemies, which can leave them vulnerable to Atsu's attacks. We recommend always aiming for a 6-kill streak to activate Ghost Stance, as it is simply better.
