How to heal in combat?

Although it's easy to die in Ghost of Yotei, healing is also simple - just press down on the D-pad. Atsu will then immediately spend one point of spirit to restore a significant amount of health. Your spirit is represented by the golden orbs above the health bar in the lower left corner of the screen. It regenerates by killing enemies, successful parrying, and starting fights with a successful taunt.

Spirit can be instantly restored by drinking sake - an item you can find in the game world or buy from vendors. To drink sake, you must hold down down on the D-pad. Atsu will quickly drink, which will restore a few spirit points, allowing her to continue healing. She can then throw an empty bottle at the opponent. Be careful when drinking sake - it triggers a short animation that can be interrupted by enemies.

How to heal outside of combat?

Your main method of healing outside of combat will be to set up camp. Atsu can do this almost anywhere on flat ground, excluding settlements. Setting up camp is free and instantly heals you to full health and restores all your spirit points. So camp as often as possible - in addition to healing, you can also cook meals that provide bonuses and additional spirit points, craft ammunition for ranged weapons and meet NPCs who sometimes visit your camp, offering information and services.
