The wolf is one of Atsu's companions in Ghost of Yotei, though, as befits an untamed animal, it walks its own paths. It can support Atsu in battle, but it appears occasionally and randomly, so its presence is always a pleasant surprise rather than something you can rely on. However, there is a way to summon the wolf whenever you want, although you'll unlock it later in the game. On this page of the guide, we've described how to summon the wolf and develop your bond with it.

How do you develop your bond with the wolf?

The wolf has its own skill tree, but you can't access it whenever you want to. To unlock points for the tree, you must visit wolf dens - special locations on the map. In each wolf den, you'll encounter the wolf who will lead you to a nearby enemy camp. By killing all enemies and freeing the imprisoned wolves, you'll unlock a wolf skill point, which you must immediately spend.

How do you summon the wolf to battle?

During each encounter, there's a random chance that the wolf will join you. However, if you want to be sure that it will join you whenever you want, you'll need to complete enough wolf dens. After helping the wolf several times, after clearing one of the enemy camps, it will teach you a special shamisen song. By playing the wolf song at any enemy outpost, you can summon the wolf to your aid - the wolf will remain by your side until the location is liberated.
